Anything good to eat? Be there one night.

Local mom and pop preferred. Not big into chains.

I live in Midland. My suggestions are only Midland based. No reason to go to Odessa:

Barbecue - Half Acre. (Sliced brisket and ribs are excellent). Mac n cheese is poor, beans were great. That’s all I have had from there this far.
Mexican - Carambas Spanish Inn, Taco de Vino, Cancun Grill
Upper end dining/steak - Cowboy Prime (nothing else in Midland comes close). Wall St would be a distant 2nd
Regular dining - Cork and Pig

Pachucos was just listed in multiple categories as top 5 performer in multiple categories in the cities recent annual food awards. I haven’t checked it out yet but have heard a lot about it.

In Odessa…. Go to Flair Taverna. You will not be disappointed. I live in Odessa, no reason to go to Midland. roflmao

When will you be in town…. Half Acre is good. Crude BBQ just opened and is good as well.

Either this Thursday or the following weekend. Waiting to hear.

Was born in Odessa. Lived on Dakota street until I was 7. Grandparents were in goldsmith. One owned the Esso station. The other was at the El Paso camp/plant. Later 60’s to early 70’s. Haven’t been back in a few years other than just passing through.

Brantley Creek BBQ in Odessa is pretty good. Started out in a food truck no now have a brick and mortar location.

Breakfast places-Flipped local place. Chain, Jimmys Egg(midland)
Bbq-I would venture to Midland and eat either Tall City or Half Acre
The other places mentioned here are sub par as far as BBQ, with the exception of Brantley but have not had but heard it’s pretty bueno. If you go to Brantley let me know what you thought.
Steaks-Tall City Meat Market has an awesome steak on Thursdays as well as different lunch specials daily. Chains, Texas Roadhouse in Midland suks. They can’t cook a steak to save their lives, Salt Grass is bad as well. Longhorn is decent for a chain.
Cork and Pig is good from Pizza to sandwiches etc. nice relaxed setting. Both in Midland and Odessa.
Mexican food, Limon Con Chile is very good but forewarned it is like Jalisco Mexico type food. Tex Mex? La Margarita on south grant.

Sorry for the delayed response. Made the trip out in Aug 31 and back Sept 1. Our schedule got jammed up on time so only were able to grab something quick and close to the hotel.

Ate at Garley’s Mexican Restaurant in a small strip center off the service road behind Walmart in Midland. Service and food were both very good….food

Thanks for all the suggestions….wish we had time to try one of those suggestions but just didn’t work out this time…

We eat at Dos Compadres weekly and good food, they don't even give us menus or ask about drinks. We are notorious for being regulars there. KD's in Midland is good BBQ, Dustin knows what he's doing. Not fan of chains myself!

The food can be good….but between Midland and Odessa can get you killed. Crap, nails, cuts of welding metal all over that highway. Plus construction and trucks going 90mph. And you talk about a plastic bag dump heap on that HWY! But , good food.
