Carry on pup in airline flight

Anyone have experience with an 8 week pup in the cabin with you

I am sure a red eye flight would be an asset.

Just a suggestion.

I took a pup to Salt Lake City. He was 8 weeks old. They charge you $100 - $150, has to be in kennel that will fit under the seat. I was worried about a whining pup for 2 hrs, but he slept all the way. Airline was accommodating and it's a great way to get pretty girls to come around - Lol

My daughter has a cat a little larger than an 8 week old pup. She travels here often with the can on a plane.

Call Kati Becker with Move The Dog Transportation. She is great to work with and will take excellent care of your dog. She's transported a number of dogs for me. I've used gun dog express before and it takes them way too long and the van smelled like pee & poop.

Thanks for the tip. Did some homework on her and the retriever people all spoke highly of her. Can you give me an example of how long and far the trip took her. Also what does she transport them in

Kati picks up the pup/dog and drives it straight to you. So travel time is however long it takes to drive directly to your location. She travels in a suburban with wire kennels in the back. She stops every couple of hours to air the dog. If the trip requires an overnight stay then she takes the dog(s) in the hotel with her. She picked up a dog for me in South Dakota once and had it to me in 2 days. Another time she brought me a dog from Missouri on the same day. The cost is roughly what you would pay to ship via an airline however they are taken much better care of. Gun Dog Express brought me a dog from Utah and it took 2 weeks. The dog was on the van for 7-10 days! If you need her contact info I can get it to you.

American Airlines, pup was 8-12 weeks old. No food the morning before we flew out and just a little water. I walked around on the lower level outside to let him take care of business just before the flight.. I had also done some crate training about a week before, so he wasn't totally freaked out in a small kennel. I had some treats, but he slept the whole way. My kennel would have fit under the seat, but I had a window seat and sorta hid him under my legs so I could pet him if I needed to. I expected the worst two hours of my life, but the pup was a great traveler.

I almost had Izzy sent to me on an airline, but it was a lot of trouble getting it done and the airline wanted her another week older so I flew up to Colorado and drove her home.

I picked up my dog 3 weeks ago from Wisconsin and flew her back to Dallas. I got a non-stop on Spirit paid the $100 because she is my first dog and I wanted to pick her out even though I probably had no idea what I was really looking for. She was 7.5 weeks at the time. I was worried about the whimpering which she did do but it wasn't the inccessant howling you will get the first night you start crate training her at home. So that wasn't too bad. I bought some puppy training pads which she used but she didn't smell because she wasn't fed and had very little water several hours before the airport. I did consult with a vet and gave her a dosing of kid's benadryl which I am so glad I did because we ended up having a 3hr delay. So it's doable if you really want to get pick her up personally, which I did.

I did the same as mattyg. Minneapolis St. Paul to DFW on Spirit. $100 to have her fly with me. I got a used sherpa crate online that I knew would be the right dimensions. You just have to have them under the seat during takeoff and flight. I held the crate in my lap during the flight. Dont feed or give them water too soon before your flight. MY golden was 9 weeks and she still fit in the crate fine. The flying and humming noise really just puts them to sleep. Most airports even have a pet relief area in the airport before and maybe after security, so look that up. Also, if that is not available take pee pads and put one down in the bathroom before you take off. We had no accidents in the airport or plane.
