Serious Hunter Wanted for Free Lease in Exchange for Helping a Disabled Hunter - 08/08/16 04:55 PM

I'm looking for someone who loves to hunt and has a schedule that allows them to go at least most weeks during the season beginning the opening of bow season on Oct.1. I'm disabled and in a wheelchair, so I need help setting up for the season and getting around during the season. I have 320 acres that belongs to my parents in Atoka County Oklahoma, which is only about 2 1/2 hours from my house in Arlington, Tx. I made myself an off road power wheelchair that I use to get to and from my stands, and need someone to help me load it into my truck here at my house and unload it at the property. I also need help in setting up at the property and keeping corn out prior to and during the season.

This is an opening for one person, but if you have kids that you want to take hunting, I'm all for it. I have a ten year old daughter who I like to take with me at least a couple of times each year. I'm semi-selective about which deer are taken and try to shoot mature does (2+yrs.) and bucks who are at least 4 years old or at least 125". There are usually several bucks ranging from that minimum up to the 160s. Oklahoma seasons suck for gun and muzzle loader, but bow season runs from Oct.1 through Jan.15 with tags for up to 6 deer with a 2 buck maximum.

I'm looking for someone who likes to go every week (or at least most weeks) in Oct. and Nov. and maybe a couple of times after that. The ability to make trips on weekdays is a plus so we can play the cold fronts and be in the stands as much as possible during that magic pre-rut time in Nov. I also try to make it to church on most Sundays, although I expect to miss a few times during deer season. I'd like to get up there to take care of getting ready for the season as soon as possible, so respond to the post or PM me your contact info. You can scout around the property, pick out where you want to hunt, and set it up the way you want. I'll try to attach some pictures of deer from up there with this post. There is also the added bonus of an occasional sounder of hogs that comes through as well as Eastern turkey and predator hunting and trapping.

I'm interested! I live in Crowley.
Is there electric and water on the property?

There's an unfinished building on the property. It was set up to be a shop on one side and a 2 bedroom lodge on the other, but the inside was never finished. There's no water and I use a generator for lights, heaters, and to charge my power chair at night. There's a bed in one room and an air mattress in another. I also have a Bobcat 2200 UTV for getting around the property. Watermelonred, I'll send you a PM with my contact info.

I just sent one. I had tried to send one last night, but after checking just now I don't think it went through because I didn't fill in all the required fields.

Sounds like a great deal for someone. Get an AC unit so you don't sweat to death. Very cool.

Oklahoma has a short M/L season(9 days) and a short gun season(16 days) unless they have changed since I hunted there a couple of years ago. If you bow hunt you can actually hunt from Oct. to January on the same permit, I believe it is over a 100 days. I would love to help you with this but can't take off that much during the week and I hope you find the perfect fit to help you. I would do it even if I couldn't hunt if I had more time. Good luck and there are some monster deer in Oklahoma.
