Lease available near Lake Whitney

Lease available near Lake Whitney - 12/24/13 04:10 PM
Available for year-round lease.
I have approx 190 acres available for lease near Lake Whitney. The two hunters who are currently leasing for deer season only are wanting a bigger lease. This current deer season is the first year this land has been hunted in quite a few years. There are no other hunters associated with the property.
Land has 5 tanks, woods and meadows. Woods consist of hackberry, elm, and mesquite. A creek borders the eastern property line.
Cattle are run on the property during the grass seasons.
There is a cabin with running water but no electricity.
I am looking for two upstanding gamesmen whom I can trust to manage the wildlife. I am also wanting them to be long term.
I will be selective in whom I choose to lease.
If interested, please pm me.
Price will be negotiated.

Yes. He wanted to know what type of business I was in. Told him I move semi-trailers around a freight yard and never heard back. Guess he doesn't like truck driver's. Good luck brother.

Asked me the same question, and have yet to hear back from him. Guess he's trying to base the price off of salary cap or something. Father in law and I will just keep looking.

can't say I blame him for asking questions. Its not all about someone showing up with money.

I don't blame him for asking either....I'd blame him for a lack of respect not to get back to the gentlemen...common decency is all

Re: Lease available near Lake Whitney - 12/30/13 02:52 PM
I sent a PM and he answered It. It's my understanding he wants people to send him a bid on the lease and he will view them all and then decide. Its my understanding the lease went for $2000 before for the two leasing it for deer season only. For year round he may want bids above that. I hope I got that right.

He was trying to lease it to someone else for turkey hunting also from reading previous posts in June

Coyote/Bobcat hunting is also not allowed. I was going to take a look Friday until the highest bidder thing was mentioned. I just don't believe that's a good way to conduct business, whether the demand justifies it or not.

Talked to landowner too. Just saw the "accepting bids" thing and just turned me off. Not a good way to conduct business IMO.

Re: Lease available near Lake Whitney - 12/31/13 08:27 PM
Just like everyone else, the "highest bidder" turned me off as well. I also happen to have access to land that is literally right around the corner from this property as I discovered after I looked at the property on google maps. I know in that general area the deer population isn't much to speak of and the specific land available looks to be about 75% open as well. Of course the aerial photograph can be deceiving, but that's my take on it.

The only place I bid is on e-bay.

What type of wildlife management program works best on 190 acres that is 75% open?
