~4100 acres in Starr County For Lease For THIS SEASON - 10/08/12 07:06 PM

Guys, I'm trying to help out family lease out some land near Rio Grande City. It is about 4100 acres. About 1500 acres is farmland, 1000 CRP (native grasses with spotty brush/mesquites), and the rest heavy brush. Price is 20,750. This is a deer, dove, and quail lease. Year round. 2 windmills with water. Old shack on the place. Bring your own drinking water. Trying to keep the group to 5 hunters. Would like one group instead of a bunch of singles. Will post more details as I get them. PM me if interested.

Nope. I will be checking game cams soon and get the pictures up as soon as I can. I am not sure what size deer to expect, but my guess would be mature bucks between 130 and 150.

I have also talked to the landowner about the possibility of getting MLD on there in the future, and he was very receptive.

A few miles north of Rio Grande City. I am working with the owner as to the terms for guests/kids. I think it will be something along the lines of a paying members children are allowed to hunt off their quota. A member may bring a guest, but guest can only hunt does and hogs, and both children AND guests must be accompanied by the paying member. No guests hunting by themselves.

Went and got the game cams today, and apparently I screwed up putting up one of them, and the other one filled up in 2 days with brush swaying in the wind. bang hammer

The first 3 pictures are of the thicker brush area. Next one is obviously farmland. Not going to be able to do much deer hunting here, but I did see a ton of dove (mourning, whitewing, and collared) this summer while down there. Last 4 pictures are of the CRP area, which to me looks like some real good stuff. There are a couple stands/tripods in place, which you can use.

I also want to restate that there is a good chance that the landowner would agree to getting MLD permit (in the future) provided the hunters.

I believe they had milo in it previously. I will try and get in contact with the farmer and post up what it is if I can. Whatever it was had already been cut in July. The field was FULL of birds, making me think it was milo as well.
