Small lease near Liberty Hill...anybody have one? - 09/10/12 06:27 PM

I'd like to find someplace small for myself and my family (wife and 2 kids under 7yrs) to hunt near Liberty Hill. Anybody have anything? Wouldn't mind driving up to an hour or so, but would like it relatively close.

Thanks,

Dan

not to be cute, but every city hunter wants a lease close by. Every city hunter in austin, houston, dallas. There are probably a thousand for every lease available. And, of course, I'd like to bring my wife and kids too. And also, its almost deer season and I havent scouted anything nor have I had a feeder running all year. I thought you could just leave your house for a short drive , bring the wife and kids, and stumble up on a deer and shoot his [censored].

Now you see what you are really asking ?
Your chances are worse than slim to none, closer to none.

no, not drunk, but I've had many many experiences hunting over the last 62 years. I do actually have the perfect place for what you're asking. I own the property and have 3 feeders on it I run year round and usually plant a couple acres in turnips. One of the feeders is about 80 yds from a 8x10 cabin, insulated, has electricity, and has 6x6 foot windows on each side that you can see out but you can see in. That would be a perfect place for the scenrio you described. But I dont want to lease it. In fact someone made me an offer today to buy it and I'm thinking it over. And with your smart remark, you have shown you're not the type I would lease to, if I were going to lease it. I started off saying "not trying to be cute", but you had to answer as a smart mouth anyway

I heard the lease I posted above has been filled...no longer available.

10pointdoe, I understand what you were saying about it being kinda late to "start" looking for a lease. I totally agree with your point there. On to other points, I can't blame a person for asking for the "perfect to them" type lease, but also realize it's highly unlikely to surface without much more time and research.

case in point, I had the perfect lease minus living quarters that I game managed for about 10 years. Cost $0 to hunt but I provided many hours of physical labor including tractor work and kept the wildlife exemption fully in place (provided all seeds & labor myself). The owner got in a financial bind in '08 when the market was crashing and "had" to lease it out to help his other financial issues ... 3 weeks before rifle season. I was scrambling for a lease extremely late, so things happen outside our control.

It sounds like you have a very nice place and I would never part with something like that unless absolutely forced to do so.
