Give Mike Powell of All Seasons Guide Service a call. He hunts the historic Yturria Ranch which is just south of the King Ranch.
My ranch manager and I were there this month and had a great time. Plenty of Nilgai. He has a huge client base so you may have to wait for a spot.

I hunted with Horn, Fin, Feather about 4 years ago. 100% Awesome, start to finish. Only thing I didn't like was it was a half hour drive from lodge to Yturi ranch where we hunted. But lodge was 5 star! Seen amazing amounts of critters, no joke over 60 nilgai, and other exotics as well. I scored first morning on a amazing stalk, on a Gold Medal bull. Great guide. I will be doing this again.

Is there such a thing as a $1500 cow hunt?

I believe there was a guy named the South Texas sportsman a years ago for a $1200 cow hunt. Not sure if he does them at that price now. Name is Fred Rodriguez & has a local outdoor show in Deep South Texas. Good luck

Most everyone goes down there looking for a blue bull, but somes want & need cows taken. I can remember us shooting 16-20 over five days at the KR many years ago. That was some sort of a special deal where these guys came and helped with cows year after year. I remember driving home with 8 cows hoofs up in my trailer. Gots lot of looks, with some being nasty ones. In some peoples minds, I was number one. Oh well. We ate well, very well, all year.
Going for cows is best done if you can team up with someone or someones on a bull hunt. That's the plan with my next one. Don't need no bull, but have several buds who have never done this before and are wanting me to set this up. This will happen. Likely to start on it.
Hunting blue bulls and cows on the Wild Horse Desert is a special experience. Dones it a bunch, but not for several years now. Needs to get back to it.

Years ago I was touring a pasture for possibly leasing on KR. The ranch foreman pointed out a group of guys in a high rack truck leaving camp. He called them the “Nilgai Specialists”. Hud may have been on that truck!

We would take the truck box off Bennie Hill's PU and place a large cooler in its place. Two bags of corn for sitting comfort on the cooler with two more bags serving as shooting rests on the headache rack. Willing to bet we were far more effective than the specialists Rust saw.

I can vouch for Horn fin and feather. My wife and I hunted with Jim Blackburn last two years. Very happy with his operation. We will be hunting there again this year. You will have plenty of opportunity to get a huge trophy Nilgai. But be prepared to make a good hit. They are incredibly tough animals.

Not sure if he's still around, but don't hunt with Kayote. Disaster of a hunt. At night. In dangerous territory.
Pay good money for this hunt. The part of South Texas where these things run around can really kick your butt. I tried the whole night hunting thing and honestly did not like it, but others love it. I got my bull and can't wait to go again, just not with the methods and people I used before.

Daytime spot & stalk or rush & shoot so much the better.
