Small feed blower?

Small feed blower? - 02/16/20 12:31 PM

Does the THF braintrust have any links/guidance on where to buy a small feed blower? (Not the big trailers.)

I found a few defunct links (Mumme's, etc.) on TexasBowhunter, but nothing current.

No DIY instructions please. I just wind up cussing a blue streak and throwing crap all over. It's embarrassing. blush

I'm just getting into feeding protein. 3 of the feeders have lids you can open and close from the ground, but I need something with a 'U' shaped PVC etc. nozzle that I can lift up and blow into the hopper. 'Trying to avoid having a feed store come out and do it and I'm getting too old to do the ladder and bag thing. 1 of the 3 (a 2K# one) also has 2" fire hose connections on the lower portion.

I know stand-and-fills are better, but having the spouts up high, out of reach of my plague of pigs, is nice too. rifle

Edit: I found "Speed Feed" link. $1,450.00 for a small metal hopper and a Shindaiwa blower motor, no piping included. eek2 Holy...!

Check out the Bad A** feed auger made or distributed by the folks that make the capsule feeder.

For a while you could order online at Walmart but I saw they are out of stock.

But I am sure you could find one somewhere. About 1K just FYI

That feed auger is pretty cool.
It reminds me of the dog feeder I made from a garden auger that I put inside of a piece of PVC, worked great.

I was seriously considering one of these, but thought, why don’t I get some stand and fill feeders instead....soon will be all stand and fill and those are super easy to pull up beside, load from the back end of a mile or truck and move along. I was standing on the edge of my upright tailgate lifting bags over my head....and just felt life was too short for that

The auger would have worked just fine, but even then if it broke I would be back to square one.

I have one of these and it is great with corn but absolutely horrible with protein. With protein its slow very slow and I think its because the pellets are small and their shape is not conducive with that auger. The protein tends to get ground up a little as well. Love the Badass Auger with corn hate it with protein.

I have a BA auger as mentioned in storage in the cubby hole of my travel trailer at the ranch in Center TX. no longer need it as I bought a shorter feeder. It is way easier than lifting the bags over you head. It will be for sale when I get up there again or someone that lives close might want to look at it. I bet it hasn't moved a thousand lbs of corn.

I have a 2000 lb road feeder with one of those bad [censored] feeder augers mounted to the back of it. One problem is that when the feed packs down, it will lock the auger up. it has to be somewhat loose when it goes into the auger. The thing feeds surprisingly fast, probably around 40 pounds a minute. From what I've seen with those small blowers, they're about 5 minutes per sack. THe auger is definitely faster than the small leaf blower set ups.

In same situation, too old for ladders and don't like standing on truck bed rails especially when by myself. Purchased the Outback Amigo blower/hopper combo, have used for years and am very happy with it. Will transfer protein almost as fast as I can open bags and dump in hopper. Blower is a Stihl and rock solid, starts with only a couple pulls even after sitting for a couple months. Cons - is not cheap, haven't checked in years but was a little north of the Speed Feed. I was able to find one used for about half price.
