Anyone move a 1k stand and fill in a truck bed?

I am thinking about getting an All Season's 1k stand and fill - 1k seems attractive. Just curious if they can be moved on a normal truck bed - or if they need to be trailered. Some places are a might hard to get in and out of dragging a full sized trailer. Called a dealer, they were leery. Called All Seasons and got VMed (guess they are a tad busy).

SO AM I, I'M PHASING OUT ALL THE SMALLER FEEDERS ON OUR PLACE JUST SO I DON'T HAVE TO KEEP FILLING THEM. HOW MUCH IS JUST THE 1K FEEDER WITHOUT THE SLINGER AND TIMER?

No clue - but the one I saw a price tag on with them was right at 1k which is msrp. I have not seen a price w/o the control unit (I have 2 new control units, so can understand your question).

Right now the only feeder I have slinging is a 50lb unit - so understand small feeders too well. It can almost go a week.

Don't see why a 1k lb feeder wont fit in the bed of a pickup. You may need to have some red flagging tape on hand and a creative packing/loading mind.

Ask them for the measurements, if its less than 48 inches wide it will go between the wheel wells of the bed. Where there's a will there's a way!

58" IIRC. Which should keep it inside the bed, but over the wells - maybe. It is a 40 minute question. 40 minutes being how long it will take me to grab the trailer if it does not fit in the bed. Moving it afterwards is the real issue. Don't really want to wedge the trailer between trees or get the truck stuck in loose sand because I am dragging a trailer.

To me that is a yes but depends largely on your packing and strapping skills.

All Seasons responded back-it should fit. Feeder is now reserved at a local dealer and I will be trying to pick it up tomorrow (or Saturday if my vacation day is cancelled).

I was a little grumpy when I called and was sent to voice mail. But in all fairness to All Seasons, they did respond to my email within 24hrs. +1 to All Seasons - they monitored this forum and I got a second response referencing this threads title. If I remember - will try to post a pic next week.

Ok, I did not get the pic. I am very happy I talked (emailed) with All Seasons before I did this. Local dealer was clueless. They tried to put it on my bed with a forklift. I told them to set it down behind my truck and we tilted it in. Tilting it in was easy with 2 people - probably doable with one. It is very well designed and balances great for this type of loading.

Getting it off the bed was an easy job for 1 person. I just slid it to it's balance point, and let it tip and slide to the ground. It gently rolled off the truck to it's skids.

So let me scream. EXCELLENT DESIGN for transport. Now the corn I got was another story. I really should have re-screened it - so the next test is how well it does with dirty corn. I will probably make a box with a screen to go on top before filling it again. That said, I live a couple minutes from this feeder - so at least during season, it should not be hard to check on. After season the size will be great, as I will not need to fill it often.

Send SniperRab a picture, and he will instruct you on how to properly load and secure the feeder in the back of a pickup. Ole' Scooter likes to get "creative" packing.

just a quick update - season is over. Did not have any problems, this feeder was stress free this year. It did leave some corn under the feeder - but there was never more than a few lbs there even after throwing 1500-2000 lbs. It was more a visual annoyance than a monetary one. Where are the hogs when you need some cleanup done?

Good news/bad news - one of my other 2 feeders go hit by a falling tree - feeder survived but it's tripod is toast (feeder was empty when the tree fell, If it had bent that leg under weight - sure I would have lost it. Feeder shopping never ends.
