Replaced an Old Rotten Box - 08/02/14 04:41 AM
I've had a 4'x4' box sitting atop a 16' tall base on my lease in the pine woods just North of Greensburg, LA, for the last 14 years.
Sitting in the box near the end of last season I rested my foot against one side of the box and it went right through the wall. So I figured maybe it was time to replace that sucker. Fortunately, the ladder unit upon which the box is mounted is still solid.
I went with a 4'x5' box this time for a little more elbow room. Constructed it at home as a modular unit that could be assembled in the field on top of the tall base.
I put it up last Saturday. So here's where I'll be spending a lot of time this coming season.
The 1/2 acre food plot starts about 100 yards from the front of the stand and extends out to 175 yards.
And you're got to have a few shooting lanes through the woods too.
