Any ideas for interior design of deer blind? - 07/10/12 07:30 PM

My dad and I are rebuilding one of our blinds. We arent looking to make anything too fancy, just maybe some unique/useful feature inside. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

carpet on around the shootin holes, windows, it will muffle the noise if you happen to bump your gun while gettin ready to shoot and is easier on wood stocks, also carpet the floor..this also will keep noise in the blind to a minimum. and paint the inside walls a dark color if you can. also a window shooting bag is awsome. cant remeber who makes them but you could do it yourself. just need a V shaped sand bag to grab both sides of the window and then another V shape sand bag to rest your gun on. also i like to cut out some plywood to make kind of a roof that goes above your window. not a door to cover it but an over hang so you can keep as much shadow in the blind as possible.... not gona lie iv also cut out a hole to run a waterhose up through the bottom of the blind and clamp a funnel to it were you dont have to do much moving to "drain" yourself lol. also cut a slot in your shelf were you will have a good sturdy place to keep your gun insted of it just sittin in the corner or side... thermacell in the blind at all times... and your set

On our tower blind we have a shelf that runs below the front window so we have a place to lay binocs, drinks, gloves etc. Our tower blind is a square metal tubing frame and we use some pieces of camo material we cut out of an old camo duffle bag and some magnets I bought at Harbor Freight and we can cover up whatever windows we need to to keep the sun from lighting up the inside of the blind. As the sun moves we can change the locaton of the curtain.
On our two wood box blinds I built some corner shelves above and below the windows. We store 1 lb propane tanks for our heaters on the upper shelves, this keeps them off the floor so we are not kicking them around when we move, and use the lower shelves for binos, gloves, drinks etc. In the wood blinds we also have curtains I made out of indoor-outdoor carpet stapled above the windows and a string hanging from the top of the wall with a closepin on the end of it to hold the curtains up on the windows we need to see out of.
In the wood blinds we also have some small screw in hooks for hanging our rattling antlers, hat, backpack etc. Anything you can keep off the floor is a good thing.

we have carpet part of the way up the walls. shelves below the window that have foam blocks to balance the gun on. 12 volt lights out of a old RV. black window screen helps with blocking sun and visibility inside the stand. we plan to add above the window shelves to put gun cases to get them out of the way as suggested. we were also planning to put gun racks in the corners to hold the guns.

a 12 volt fan in the window helps move some air in the summer.

since we do a lot of all night hog hunting, we plan to add cushioned benches to power nap while waiting on the hogs. our stand 6x8.

The fist two response just about sumed it up carpet and shelving. I like to make my shelves out of 3/4" X 5" wide plywood. place at or slightly below the windows. I also put indor/outdoor carpet on it. I also like a shelve on the right hand side (since I'm right handed( at about 18-20" for STUFF.
If you carpet the walls and floor that will cut down on alot of noise. I make
my blinds 5X5 and use "R" panel or some outher type of metal for two reason, I don't like to paint, and it last. I built my blinds "to last" because I got tired of keeping them in repair every year.
Let me just say this if you are not in a hurry let imagination go wild. You may have those that laugh but hey it's all about having fun RIGHT?
