In wall/between studs gun safe

Have a couple of good places in my house that I could place one of these and keep hidden. Anyone have one, and if so, what do you think of it?

never use one just use big gun safe concreted to floor.. works fine..

No one has one of these to give some feedback?

my bro in law did that in his last house. plenty secure and well hidden too. i went with a fire safe in the closet and the biggest reason i did was the fire protection
without the fireshielding from a fully enclosed safe, your guns, papers, etc.. would be gone

man i have thought about doing this and everyone called me weird for even thinking about trying it. what kid of door are you using and how are you locking it? also they have those all mounted gun holders (about 3-4 guns will fit) and i was going to put 3 or 4 of those in there to hold them.

I can't afford a nice safe right now, and we haven't ruled out selling our house this year. Figured in wall would secure guns. I'm aware of fire threat and would definitely go that way otherwise.
i was going to mount it in hall coat closet behind coats and put something else over it as well.

thats a good idea. i was going to put it in my room but have one of the medicine cabinet doors or something over it or maybe even mount a door and lock and all. wouldnt keep it hidden but would be secure

I think everybody has their own reason or circumstances for having a safe. I have one to make the parents of my son’s friends comfortable by knowing that they are locked up. Also, it takes the pressure off of my son should one of his friends really pressure him to show them a gun. Since they are locked up he has a legitimate excuse.

Another reason to have a safe is because of the “Brian Loncars” out there. If your guns were not secured and you had them stolen, and they were then used in a crime, it might just be possible to be found irresponsible and accountable if you wound up in court. If you simply had them in a locked closet at least you made an effort.

So I would say to get whatever safe that you can afford and suits your immediate needs. Not everybody needs a Fort Knox safe.

I have a Winchester safe made by Granite Safe Company that is supposed to be fireproof. I have since been told that the so-called fireproof safes aren’t really all that fireproof. Most of them merely have sheetrock walls, which is all it takes to be called fireproof. Some of the safe brands have something else that is a little better.

I wonder if anybody reading this has ever had a house burn down around a so-called fireproof safe and could tell us what was left. I have been keeping some documents, computer back-up devices, etc. in mine and have been told that they would probably disintegrate. I could care less if all of the guns were a total loss. That is what insurance is for.
