? ? ? HELP ? ? ? - 12/15/12 03:41 AM

I just bought the Wildgame rechargeable external battery pack for my Wildgame Innovations camera. The security box contains (2) 6 volt rechargeable batteries. The charging adapter has a 3 position slider switch to select from: off-6V-12V.

The single page instruction manual says nothing about which to set the slider switch to begin charging. Anyone know if I should set it on 6V or 12V for charging ?

There are (2) new 6V batteries that came in the box. The cord that plugs into the game camera has (2) red wires that each red wire goes to a + terminal on each battery, then there are (2) black wires with each going to a - terminal on each battery. There is a plug-in on the box that the charger line plugs in to, to charge both batteries in the box at the same time.

I'm assuming the slider switch needs to be set on 6V, since each battery is 6V battery.... just don't know why or what the 12V selection would be used for unless since they are both connected with that one cord, that turns both of them into 12V ? ? ?

If you have the batteries connected + to + and - to - they are in "parallel" and will output 6v. If you take a + from one battery to your device, go from the - of that battery to the + of the second battery and from the - of the second battery to your device you have the batteries tieded in "series" and the output will be 12v.

Sounds like your box can be used for either 6v of 12v depending on the voltage of the device being powered.

After looking at their WEB site it appears they sell, by itself with aligator clips on the wires, a 6v/12v charger for 6v/12v feeder batteries. They are most likely using the same charger for both applications. For the Game CAM you need to leave it on 6v and wire the batteries per their instruction sheet.
