Need help and info

Need help and info - 12/21/23 02:19 AM

I will be in Grapevine over the holidays and need info on a place to try and get some reloading supplies. Where might one go other than Cabela's to find a decent place find a selection of bullets powder etc.

Any place around there perhaps to the North and West just want to have some me time before all hades breaks loose.

Thanks for the help

Scheels is one of my happy places. Check their website as well.

You said, "other than Cabela's" but I was there last week and they had more powder and bullets than I have seen anywhere in a very long time. They are pricey, though.

The nearest Cabela's (I believe) will be in north Fort Worth. In Grapevine there is Bass Pro.

Rumor has it there is a Scheel's somewhere in the metromess, but I do not venture any further east than the big airport if I don't have to...anything east of the airport is Dallas to me. I have not lost anything in Dallas and I don't intend to.

Wish you luck. I miss the days of being able to walk into your local retail store that sold components and get almost anything of whatever your heart desired. Down around San Antonio we are pretty limited to bass pro Cabelas and mail order. Some one off local outfits but stock is slim. Academy caries some stuff but it’s beat down and selection of what is available is slim, pretty much only hornady and only top popularity chamberings.

Yep, miss the Powderhorn, and back when Nagel's had a well-stocked reloading room.

Just bought primers, though, at the I-10W BassPro a couple of days back (they keep them now behind the cashier's desk in the handgun/rifle section; don't know if I had to, but I took a number and waited). They had several powders available as well, but the selection was limited. Bullets were predominantly Hornady, with a few Barnes' and Berger's.

I'm hesitant to mention it (because I don't want to ruin what has been a good thing), but I've found that a trip out to Cedar Ridge Range has generally been worth the effort. YMMV.
