Case Trimmer Thoughts - 11/19/19 04:21 PM

I am just trying to find out what all y'all use for case trimming and opinions/thoughts on it.

I currently have a Little Crow Works WTF trimmers. I like everything about it but the fact that my hands getting really tired after doing a bunch of cases. I've heard of the Giraud but that thing is was really expensive what with all the caliber specific accessories you will need to purchase.

Giraud for me. Once you have one, you will never want to use a hand held lathe trimmer.

I've never tried one, but a guy on Ebay sells one that works similar to the Giraud but is made of plastic with a metal cutter. If interested, search:

^^This

Lathe trimmer, handheld chamfer/debur tool, 50 pieces takes 50 minutes.

Giraud trimmer, 50 pieces, 4 minutes 30 seconds.

My only regret was not buying it sooner.

The Giraud is worth every penny. Outstanding quality and a HUGE time saver, which also produces more consistent quality brass.

The Giraud also is very durable. Mine is more than ten years old and still runs perfectly. So spreading the cost over years and comparing the cost to the huge amount of time saved makes it one of the very best pieces of reloading equipment ever.

I use the frankford arsenal case prep and trim center ($180), it seems to work very well and sure beats the heck out of using my Lee trimmer and chamfer/deburring by hand!

Lee trimmers on a Lyman Case Prep Express.

Boy, my Prep Express sure looks clean! The picture was when it was brand new.

I've used the Lee Case Length Gauges for a long time. I shoot a bunch of cartridges, so I have a bunch. Most reloaders do not realize that the cutters have a reasonable range of adjustment. You set them up with a caliper, and they will deliver the length. If I have something that I'm using at an odd length, I have order a custom gauge from Lee.
