plated .308 - 07/13/15 12:57 AM

I bought 100 of these at SW Ammo in Mesquite. It looks like they bagged from bulk and no info came with it. They are also only open Wed-Sat or I would call.

I loaded up 50 30-06 with 48g of 3031 with the idea of hitting the range tomorrow. It should put these about 2800fps.

After all this nice work I read plated is recommended at 1900 or so and less. They are used in slow moving 30-30s.

What might happen if I fire these at 150% of the posted speed? Will they peel apart in the barrel or wait until they are airborn?

If it was your gun I think I would just try it. I will probably end up pulling them all.

Would be a great bullet for the 300 Blackout. In the 30-06 about 15 gr of AA5744 should be the ticket.

I pulled them and replaced with the correct stuff I had on hand.

If you shot these, they would begin to lead up the barrel in no time. Once you got lead deposits inside your barrel, accuracy would quickly degrade, and you could start getting high pressure signs. This bullet would be good for slower speeds, like 300 blk out, maybe 30-30, etc.
