.45 LC - 09/23/14 02:03 AM

I recently acquired a H&R Buffalo in .45 LC. What is a good factory round for hogs/white tail? OR........ Who can load me some bad to the bone loads? I have a new set of lee dies. Prefer in the westoplex Fort worth area. Text me at 817-658-6706 (cant always get this computer to work)

For factory loads I would look at the Hornady FTX Leverveloution. That one would probably be the easiest to find. Speer Gold Dot is another good one but they have been pretty hard to find here lately. BVAC use to make a "Bear Load" with a 300gr XTP I believe. That would be another one worth looking at.

Corbon 335 gr P+ hunting load. Has a large meplat, will pass through, smash bones, whatever you want. Natchez used to carry them.

I build typical Ruger strength loads for mine.

I have been very happy with sierra 240 grain hollow cavity out of my 45 colt. A lot of handgun bullets don't really expand much. These with nearly double in diameter.

Thanks y'all ! In a rifle, is this a decent 75 to 100 yd round?

I'm a little late to the party, but from a rifle, doing your part and speaking from personal experience, there's no reason the old .45 can't be perfectly at home at that range.

In the right pistol it is fine to that distance. With the right load in your rifle I'd say 125 for deer.
