Built my own several yrs ago. Can't remember actual size, about 26" by 48" I believe. Made the table top out of four pieces of 5/8" plywood sandwiched together with screws. Real heavy and has given me no problems with flex while using. Just be sure the table top is built heavy, strong, rigid and stout. My .02 cents....

This one work well, most presses won't work with the drawers in place.

You can build to suit or buy a good sturdy one.
I bought one recently at SAM's for 199.00 that has worked very well and it's on the left side of the room

And my dad built this one over 30 years ago and it's on the right side of the room. The top is laminated 2X4 studs glued and all-threaded together.

Agree with all above.
Make it rigid, rigid, rigid, and I put a small lip of
paneling around the two sides and back so things could not roll off.

I use a 2 drawer version of this. It works with the drawers in place but I mount the presses on 12X12 pieces of plywood and have captive nuts in the top and just screw them down to the bench. To make it more stable it is mounted on a half sheet of plywood and lag bolted to the wall. Bench is plenty stout this way for reloading 50BMG which take a lot of pressure to get that first military crimped primer out of the case. I switch between 4 presses and with the plywood plates it makes switching easy.

I built mine. 3' x 8'.

2" x 6" frame, and doubled up 2" x 4" legs. 3/4" Birch plywood top with a lath of solid oak for the border to cover the plywood layers. Buy a strong one or build it very strong. Some brass sizing takes some significant force.

Here is redneck for you. I built mine when I was about 14 years old and money was pretty snug after buying my press dies scale etc. Mom and dad had just remodeled the house I took the cutout from where they mounted our new double kitchen sink and mounted it ontop of a homemade wooden table/stand I had my experimental fish tank on in the garage, reinforced where the press mounted and its been going strong for over ten years. After some cleaning my wife even allowed me to put it in our utility room and Im once again able to load banana

I bought this unit from Home Depot about 8 years ago for the garage and then moved it in the house a year ago for reloading.

Mine looks flimsy until you see it's bolted to the wall with lag screws. Doesn't move at all. It was in my garage when I bought the house.

Re: Loading table ?? - 08/29/14 09:03 PM

I use a Kobalt workbench from Lowe's. Fortunately my step dad used to be a formica guy so I made a bigger stouter top out of 3/4" finish ply (3 layers) and then put a light colored formica on it. The extra weight of the plywood makes it heavy and stable and it only ran me about $225.

Re: Loading table ?? - 09/03/14 04:17 PM

When we moved into the current house I decided to take over part of the master closet because there wasn't really a spare room like we had, and I sure as hell wasn't going into the barn or garage. As a quasi-compromise, I made my bench much more "refined" and went with better materials and finishes to appease the wife.

All but the LnL AP are on removeable blocks that attach via all threaded knurled handles so that I can move my single stage press, vice, trimmer, shotgun presses etc. to whatever position I want. I can also completely remove them from the bench and have a pretty nice flat surface - which has turned out to be very useful for my wife as well, so the bench has grown on her. The only thing I would have done different here is place the holes for the blocks better that would have given me more options with the same amount of attachment points, but it's not bad enough for me to go through the effort of changing anything.

The frame is 2x4, the top is a 1-1/8" beech butcher block counter top I bought from Ikea (best value). I put 4 coats of polyurethane on the table top and it has held up very well. Shelving underneath part of it for components storage, and the big white bins you see are now under the bench as well.

Lots of pegboard, and I added some additional shelving in other areas to make use of empty wall space. I work hard to keep it organized and neat, and it works wonderfully for what I use it for (and for what my wife uses it for). It's my little sanctuary these days.
