very hard to find ammo - 03/03/12 12:26 AM
After almost a year of searching I have found the answer to all my ammo woes... I have several very old guns that ammo has not been made for in many, many years. Most specifically the Chicago palm pistol and the knuckle-duster. The Palm pistol shoots a .32 rimfire extra short w/ black powder. I have called every custom loaded and no one makes rimfire – until now. I found a guy about 3 hours west of here that makes custom rimfire. He actually makes every type of ammo around but I only cared about the rimfire for now.
He makes the cases himself out of bras, and the best part is they are easily reloadable. They are not quite traditional… He uses a 6mm starting cap in the case at the rim that fires it. (You have to make sure you load them in your gun in the correct direction.) I have tested the first batch I picked up while I was out there today and they are great.
I had spoken to him several times on the phone and he invited me up to tour his shop and see the process. This is not a guy in his garage it’s a serious licensed shop He has a huge facality.
Nonetheless if any one else is interested in getting very hard to find ammo email me and ill send you his contract information. He does not load the ammo as far as I know but finding an easily reloadable rimfire is pretty cool for a cartage that has not been mas made in over 100 years! These cases are not exactly cheap, $4 each for mine, but considering I cannot get them anywhere else its money well spent. Other cases very in price but they are all reloadable, even pin fires.
Below is a picture of the case and reusable primer.
I have a list he gave me of what all he makes and its everything from pinfire, rimfire, center fire and anything else you can think of. He said their moto is if you want it they can make it. While I was there they were making everything from 4guage reloadable brass shotgun shells to .577 Snider.
Again this is not cheap but he is the only person I know making most of the custom rimfire and center fire ammo.
Just thought id share and maybe someone else can revice there old relic they have not been able to get ammo for.
