Reloading Station...

Reloading Station... - 11/21/10 08:17 PM

I'm just getting started into reloading and was wondering what everybodies setup looked like. If you guys wouldn't mind I would love to see some pic's.

Re: Reloading Station... - 11/21/10 08:31 PM

Updated the pic. This is more what it looks like now with the lights and the shelf. The press is the hornady lock and load AP with auto case feed.

Here's mine, I made it a bit too small so I'm thinking of adding on soon

Re: Reloading Station... - 11/22/10 05:36 AM

You guys are disgustingly organized. No way I'm showing mine.

But then, I started wondering the other day. I have 32 cans of powder and 66 boxes of bullets. Not all are full. I have an ammo box full of primers. Most boxes are full. No idea how many cases I have including 30-06, 6.5x55, 30-30, .222, 300 win mag, .243 .38/357, 9mm and miscellaneous others. And then, there are dies and other assorted reloading tools.

I'm not about to show all of that stuff.

Mine isn't the biggest or most elaborate, but it works for my needs.

Re: Reloading Station... - 11/22/10 11:58 AM

Built this one in April. Hadn't filled the shelves, yet.

Re: Reloading Station... - 11/22/10 04:32 PM

No way I'm showing mine either, unless of course I break down and get organized, and snap a quick picture before I mess it all up again.

Re: Reloading Station... - 11/22/10 04:54 PM

I'd say ya'll should just show us your pics, I think we all know how hard it is to keep a bench clean! I just cleaned mine up for the pic but usually it's a mess.

Re: Reloading Station... - 11/23/10 08:01 PM

OK, i've been shamed into showing my bench, you asked, of course this does not include 2 cabinets of brass, bullets and loaded ammo or a book case full of incidentals.

For anybody interested, my bench is a kitchen table I bought at an unfinished furniture store with a bookshelf screwed onto the back of it, simple but effective.

Re: Reloading Station... - 11/23/10 10:36 PM

Nice bench Sendero, I think all of us who use a bench know how hard it is to keep it clean and organized

This is greatness, have looked at thousands of reloading setups on the web and still like seeing what others use.

Re: Reloading Station... - 11/28/10 09:10 AM

Right now the room my bench is normally in is being remodeled so it is not setup, Currently I am using a Blacken Decker workmate with the press attached to it. I use several different presses so on the usual bench I have captive nuts in the bench and the different presses mounted on 3/4 inch plywood plates that get bolted to the bench, makes for a pretty quick changeout.

Thanks, I used a propane torch to darken the grain then put polyurethane on it. The fridge with the stickers has powder and bullets on the bottom and primers on top.

I gotta get an old fridge like that. Excellent storage.

Nice work bench. Do you keep powder in the frig? Thats a good idea. Throw some packets in there to keep the moisture out. I like it!

I am not even sure what is in the jug, something made by "Weller". I bet that stuff is 30 or 40 years old, my buddy was cleaning his mothers house out and ran across it.

Well, don't want to hijack this thread but it looks like I'm going to convert a newer fridge, so this one will be available for free pick-up in a couple of weeks. Just the refrigerator, none of the fittings. Will include a 20 year sticker collection and associated dust.

Re: Reloading Station... - 12/13/10 09:47 AM

This thread made me curious.

I have 66 boxes of bullets, a couple of jars full or partially, plus some paper bags of bullets. Of course, not all the boxes, bags or jars are totally full.

My primers are stored in an ammo can. It's a little less than full.

I have 32 cans of powder, mostly full or close to it.

An entire shelf full of primered brass in 5 or 6 calibers.

A machinist 10 drawer toolbox of miscellaneous stuff and tools including about a dozen or so sets of dies.

Just about everything I need to cast bullets but I've never done it.

Quite a few loaded pistol bullets of 3 or 4 calibers. I never shoot a pistol.

4 different presses but I only use my original, 50 year old(I guess) RCBS single station.

Thumblers Tumbler with probably 10 or so pounds of media.

Other shop tools like grinder, knife sharpener, big compressor, drill press, etc. Lots of hand tools but I have more tools in the garage and in my place at Bowie. A couple of welders another big compressor and misc junk there.

I don't get to shoot that much and have way too much stuff. None of it is for sale.

But you have all that "stuff" which I guess, is the main thing!

Myself and probably 95% of us are in the same boat.

I sure do like your bench Payne. Did you burn the wood and then varnish?

Re: Reloading Station... - 12/15/10 11:35 AM

That is a beauty piece of furniture Payne. Some really nice stations posted.
Has anyone seen or built off of plans such as the NRA plans ?
Damaged Formica counter tops or solid doors would work great also.

Thanks, I take the propane torch and go full blast and just run it over the wood. Make sure you have some water handy because you will get some flare ups. That bottom piece took less then five minutes. You can make it really dark by holding the tip of the torch really close. Don't stop the movement, do it like an airless sprayer.

I used polyurethane for the finish, five coats, it holds up well. Any questions just let me know.

Just starting to get organized. Once I get my storage shed built I can get some of the crap out of my garage and have a clean space to work. It's well insulated and stays warm in the winter. I've been casting every night this week, got a pretty good pile going...

Re: Reloading Station... - 12/17/10 10:07 AM

I beleive I just might do that after the season. The table is a portable shooting table (it folds up) that a friend I work with made for me. It works pretty well doubling as a loading table.

Re: Reloading Station... - 12/17/10 11:04 AM

Be careful in the corners, that's where you'll get the flare ups.

I am getting ready to build mine here, my old one was similar to Payne's but when the wife sold the old house the buyer wanted both of my benches and my 7x4x2 storage cabinet. I priced out the lumber at HD this past weekend and it will run me about 80.00.
