Crossbow for the wife - 08/29/21 12:02 AM

Looking for a crossbow for my wife. She has a Parker crossbow that's she shoots well, but she cant [censored] it alone. I have to do it for her. I work out of town on a 2/2 rotation. I'm looking for a crossbow that has a cranking device on it. She wants to hunt and be able to [censored] her own bow. I know there is a lot of brands out there but I'm not up to date on them or their features.

I bought the wife a Wicked Ridge RDX-400 for that and the reason it balances better for her being a reverse limb it balances between the hands like a well balanced firearm. Cocking device is geared so it takes about 20 turns to do the job but pressure on the handle is about 5lbs. She killed one buck with it last year, figure there will be more this year.

She also shoots it better than my old Parker Tornado.

I think Tenpoint in general has the best crank device system, though the ones on Ravin crossbows is nice. Barnetts and carbon express are a problem waiting to happen and not geared as easy. Excalibur and Centerpoint have them t hat is detachable but then there is something else to keep up with. Excalibur takes about 18lbs pressure on the handles to draw the bow back. Parker made one that slipped on the buttstock as well that you might can find used, they are called Parker Sidewinder. Also something else to keep up with.

I just bought a Killer Instinct Cbow that was $219 at BPS. They have one for $299. Neither have cranks and Not sure you can add a crank to it. Both of the bows to me are great and easy to shoot bows. My point is, don't be afraid to look at the entry level bows. You don't have to buy the higher end bows but the cranks add about $150 to the price tag.

I have a killer instinct lethal 405. Bought the hand crank for it for another $100. Absolutely love this x-bow. Ridiculously fast and accurate. Have killed many many animals with it.
