EYEBALLERS?

Does any one still hunt without sights and pins on their compound....and just eyeball the targets. I just hunted with a guy up in Kansas that says he's never hunted with a sight or pins as pulled at his new Matthews!

It is called instinctive shooting. I saw a guy on YouTube hunting all types of game including quail in the air with no sights.

I've seen it. I've seen more wounded deer and pigs from guys who shoot instinctive than with sights. Really great instinctive shooters are the stuff. Especially those shooting traditional gear. Unfortunately most of the ones I've had the "pleasure" of hunting around weren't. I know my limitations and I hunt within them. Whether with bow or rifle. And that means pins, peeps and scopes.

INDIANS! We're horrible shots that's why they were always naked and starving! It goes way back to the beginning! Find a traditional thread if you want some good instinctive shooting answers! I'm addicted to my new recurve! But from 20 meters in I'm deadly!!! Lol first comment was sarcasm! Don't want congress making me change my post!!!

some people have a natural instinct that is uncanny, but we have all of today's technology, nobody wants to try anymore.

robin Hood and William Tell and I think Fred Bear wer all naturals.....not naked either! LOL

One big reason I gave up compounds; no challenge anymore, I've killed a ton of deer with all the gadgets on one, might as well use a rifle. If I ever buy another compound (which is doubtful) I won't be putting anything on it ever again. I love shooting instinct takes a lot more effort and lots of practice.

I'm not putting down compounds; I just about done everything with a compound under the sun. Time for new horizons! aim

My weapons of choice now, the only one with gadgets is the Martin recurve I use for bow fishing.

First deer lease I was ever on was an archery lease. Guy shot, wounded and never recovered 5 deer. His buddy 4 more. Both talked all the sh_t about "training wheels" and what not. Fact is if you aren't great at it and have the natural skills to do it then don't. I know folks who play soft ball and can't throw a ball to a spot consistently. That makes them a liability on an infield play. That's just how it is with trad gear. I don't have the natural ability so I have to practice more and really limit my shot range. So much I'm not willing to hunt yet as I don't trust myself.

Instinctive shooting is bull. Howard Hill said he had seen hundreds of "instinctive shooters," but never a good one. I can shoot baseball-sized groups at 20 yards with my longbow, but I definately do not shoot off of instinct.

There are those that can shoot very well instinctive and those that have no business hunting that way. It takes most of us lots of practice and shooting time to build and maintain shooting efficiency to be good at it. One the best I ever saw at it had a better percentage on ducks with his recurve than most do with a shotgun.

Sounds like those guys took off their train wheels too soon. Bubba I've been in archery probably longer than most of you have been alive. I've seen all types, with or without train wheels. Sometimes you just can't fix stupid.

On a traditional hunting forum I'm on I've seen some pretty sick shots this season. Some in the spine, some gut shot, a bunch of liver shots, those pictures make me sick to my stomach, just because a person hunts trad it doesn't make them a trad hunter. I know for a fact I can tag pigs or deer at 30 yards, I don't because of the heavy arrows I shoot I'll lose K.E. and end up wounding a deer or not recovering it so I will not take that shot, 20 yards is my max shot.
