First deer lease I was ever on was an archery lease. Guy shot, wounded and never recovered 5 deer. His buddy 4 more. Both talked all the sh_t about "training wheels" and what not. Fact is if you aren't great at it and have the natural skills to do it then don't. I know folks who play soft ball and can't throw a ball to a spot consistently. That makes them a liability on an infield play. That's just how it is with trad gear. I don't have the natural ability so I have to practice more and really limit my shot range. So much I'm not willing to hunt yet as I don't trust myself.
Sounds like those guys took off their train wheels too soon. Bubba I've been in archery probably longer than most of you have been alive. I've seen all types, with or without train wheels. Sometimes you just can't fix stupid.
On a traditional hunting forum I'm on I've seen some pretty sick shots this season. Some in the spine, some gut shot, a bunch of liver shots, those pictures make me sick to my stomach, just because a person hunts trad it doesn't make them a trad hunter. I know for a fact I can tag pigs or deer at 30 yards, I don't because of the heavy arrows I shoot I'll lose K.E. and end up wounding a deer or not recovering it so I will not take that shot, 20 yards is my max shot.
