The hog slayer - 10/02/14 08:02 PM

So I finished building the crossbow I intend to take on a planned hog hunt next March. I took it out for the first time on a bear hunt yesterday (no bears we harmed) and wiped out on a slippery log and managed to already put 3 marks in the stock - character marks as I like to think.

Specs are as follows:

Riser and limbs: Excalibur Matrix 405
Draw weight: 290 lbs
Scope: Vortex Viper 2.5-10 by 44 illuminated
Stock: Thumbhole - Custom Walnut
Trigger: Triggertech 2 stage 2.5 lb
String: Boo Custom Flemish
Bolts: 507 grain Black Eagle Zombie Slayers
Speed: 346 fps (chronographed)
KE: +/- 135 ft-lbs

Did you build the stock your self?

A friend built it for me. I gave him some drawings and measurements and supplied the wood.

I have a Horton I have epoxied the stock on that works good, but I don't trust for the long term.
