When to change strings and Buss cables

When to change strings and Buss cables - 10/01/14 09:54 PM

I have an old Bear Vapor 3000 and have decided to bow hunt more this year. The last few years I have only hunted one bow hunt per year due to constraints outside of my control. This year, I have divorced my constraint, and will be going more often. Here's my question. Should I replace my string and buss cable? I really have not shot it much with the string that is on there, and I have kept it well waxed. The string still looks to be in good shape. However, I noticed that the buss cable has one broken strand.

I wouldn't trust the cable if it has a broken strand. Fuzzed up a little? No big deal. If a strand is broken I question why, how and what is the chance of the others going. An exploding bow is not a fun outdoor activity.

I'd go ahead and change them. Especially if your planning on shooting with more frequency.

Yea, more hunting time...but less money. Thanks for the advice. You all confirmed what I already suspected. I have ordered a new buss cable already.
