Arrow weight - 09/24/14 07:02 PM

This may be a dead horse, but with me ate up with hunting fever for bow season, I finally weighed my arrows. They weigh 30grams which converts to about 463 grains. I shoot out of a 55lbs draw. What weight do you guys shoot?

Your shooting about 8.4gr per lb which is a pretty heavy arrow these days when you consider IBO standard is 5gr/lb and AMO used to be might still be 7gr/lb. I'm shooting 6gr/lb.
At 8.4gr/lb your arrows will be slower but will maintain energy well down range.

&A is correct...Heavier arrow will be quieter and maintain energy better downrange helping with penetration .. if it shoots well out of your bow you are good.

537 grains but that is from a 45lb recurve.

400gr from the 55lb compound

605gn with 55# recurve
743gn with 60# recurve

The bow compound I gave away last month was 55# arrow with 543gn, 21% FOC over 84 K.E.
