Climbers and the size of trees - 03/08/14 07:54 AM

I was thinking about buying a climber but wasn't sure about how big of a tree you can use them on. Most the trees where I will be hunting are about 18 in wide some are bigger

Depends on the climber, for the Summit Viper manual list to use with 8 to 20 inch diameter trees. Ol'Man Outdoors stands list 9 to 20 inch trees.

You can download and find this information from the manufactures websites. It is located in the manual for each tree stand.

I hunted out of some in Missouri that are at least 20" (probably more than 24") at the bottom. So big you have a pretty big step to get up on a pretty angled foot platform to start the climb. But up at 20' or so you still have a good backdrop of the tree to blur against.
