Homemade stabilizer

Homemade stabilizer - 10/15/13 11:41 PM

So I used a 12" piece of cf tube (thanks psychsurf).

Took a 1" 5/16-24 bolt and loctited a matching nut onto it.

Ground down the nut and bolt to fit into the 1/2" cf tube.

Shrink wrapped one end of tube and the job welded 5/8" chair tip onto the same end.

I packed the tube with lead pellets and old grocery bags for weight and dampening. Jb welded ground nut and bolt into open end. And added another 5/16-24 nut for a finished look.

It feels good, bow wants to rock forward. I might have made it a little too heavy but I have not had a chance to shoot it yet. Its been raining all day here.

you want it to rock forward... at least that is how I was taught, you want the bow to slowly tip straight forward after he shot

Clever build.

I have about 10oz of weight on the front of my stab (10" Vendetta Enforcer w/ 5" head). I shoot a GT-500. It rolls forward after the shot, and that is the way it should be, IMO.

I don't care for short stabs, they are just added weight, with no benefit to balance and minimal vibration control.

If you want to add a little more vibration dampening, you can put a Bowjax Max Jax on your stab, they work pretty darn good, and are not expensive.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it looks okay! I do plan on adding a maxjax to the stab. Haven't shot it yet because I'm waiting on elite to send me mods to adjust my DL. I'm used to my assassin which just sat there when holding it.
