Mechanical Broadhead VS. Fixed Broadhead

All the good old fashioned like the fixed broadhead but the gotta have the newest,greatest,most expensive stuff think the mechanical is better. But really what is so great about the mechanicals? Fixed fly just as good and most of them are cheaper. If you're letting one fly out of a tent blind when the mechanical hits the mesh screen the blades are going to open up and not fly right. But if you're shooting a fixed it will fly the same EVERY TIME. Not trying to start an argument or anything just seeing what everybody else thinks about it.

last year i bought some muzzy 4 blades and they would not group at all... they would fly where ever they wanted to so i got rid of them... i bought some g5 t3s for this year and they fly the exact same as my field points... hopefully this weekend and can give you a thorough review on penetration

well i was going to ride out to academy today but i didnt get a chance to but i will tommorrow i will check out the g5 t3s tommorrow though. I'm heading up to the deer lease this weekend to throw out some protein. I may sit in a stand and see if i can get me a hog.

can't get those holes from a fixed blade.

To get most fixed blades to fly true they need to be tuned. Where as a mechanical broadhead does not need to be tuned. Just my opinion. I have shot both and still do.

I shoot Muzzy Phantoms and had trouble with them grouping! tried them of different arrows and only difference was fletching.Bad groups were on the off brand looka like Blazers,shot them on the Blazer fletched arrows and problems went away! Sometimes simple fix brings arrows around!

Slick Trick Mags 100gr they fly great and kill just as good as anything else.

Also, if you have a flyier, try turning your nock 1/8 of an inch clockwise. Most of the times, thats enuff to bring them in.

I shoot Magnus 2 blade. Nothing fancy about them but nothing to go wrong. You cant beat the penetration of a 2blade.

The only thing about them is that the do bend easily... But, with 6 to a pack (for less $$ than most 3 packs of BHs), with a lifetime warranty, you really can't go wrong in my books. I sent three back to them after turkey season, and the sent me replacements back two weeks later.

I don't condone shooting mechanicals, as some people have had tremendous luck with them, they are just not for me. There are too many things that can go wrong while bow huntin for me to justify adding one more possible problem of a broadhead not preforming.

Bloodtrail, my bud had the EXACT same exit damage using a Slick Trick 100gr. fixed blade on a pig last weekend. I shoot both. T3's are the only mech. I'd use on a hog. Just saying. I also use Montec CS. They fly the same for me. Muzzy's would NEVER fly true or group for me either. IDK how they are still selling that junk. 9 out of 10 people can't get them to group or fly true.

True. Very true. I know mine is tuned correctly, had RBO do it, & the Muzzy's still sucked. EVERY other BH or mech has flown perfect.

My bow is tuned correctly as well puts bullet holes in paper and Muzzy's suck out of mine too. Not saying it is a bad head they just flew bad out of my setup.

I am a 100 grain NAP Spitfire fan and have been for 15 years. I have not lost a deer since going to them and I do not have to worry about a tuning issue for my broadhead.
If my field tips and practice arrows are on so is my Spitfire.

I have had good holes with swackers.

how much are the spitfires?

I just picked up a 3 pack of 125gr Spitfires up here in Wisconsin and they were $39.95 at Gander Mountian(not sure if they are a midwest franchise or national).

My Muzzy's fly great, but they are 220 grain Phantoms, I like heavy FOC. I used to use Grim Reapers, and I liked them, however you can't find them at 220 grains.

I use 100grain NAP thunderheads, always have, and if they don't change anything about them I always will. They just flat out work. And I've never seen a fixed blade head open prematurely, or fail to open on impact. Oh wait, because they can't.

Not saying other heads don't work, just telling you what I use, and why.

Shot at 3 pigs so far with NAP Spitfire 100gr. Killed all 3of them. One of them I shot quartering away behind the shoulder and didn't take a single step. Thats probably more shot placement than broadhead. But i haven't had a reason not to like them. And with that said, I'll probably go to slick tricks now. But, Just because I like to try out different things.
