Remington 700 .308 is ready to run - 04/20/24 10:59 PM

Bought this from a member earlier this year, but it's not the same gun. Taken off stock deep cleaned and barrel cleaned.
Chronograph numbers average speed from 4 shots is 2642 fps with IS-D of 17.2 using Federal factory ammo 168 gr SMK HPBT's Gold Metal Match. I have 4 boxes of this to shoot before load development.
Stock torqued to 65 in. Lbs, ring bases torqued to 25 in. Lbs and rings torqued to 20 in, lbs. Gun & Scope leveled.
I have it bore sighted and plan to get zeroed at 100' tomorrow then run out to 500 yards for validation.

Range results to follow.

Upgrades:
Trigger tech trigger set to 1.6 lbs.
Defensive Edge mini slab break
Leupold Mark 4 4.5 X 14 50mm
Talley 35mm rings
Scope level
I'll add Cheek piece if needed.

Love 308. I went through a phase of oddball cartridges to be “different” but came back to the 308 about 6 years ago and realized it pretty much does everything I need.

Nice indeed! I also appreciate the .308 so that is a rifle that could become my go-to gun.

Got it on paper and went to 500 yards with it using the factory ammo. Gonna be happy with this one.

Both are 4 shot groups.

Is that a 5R Mil Spec?

It's a 26" heavy barrel 1:8 twist. Comes standard with SH Precision stock. I think the model number is 700P.
It's not a 5R barrel.
Original owner shot it maybe 80-100 rounds.

You sure about that twist rate D ?
Every PSS I have seen is 1 in 12.
My 86 model VSSF is a 1 in 11
