Probably my Beretta Silver Pigeon Sporting. I get bored shooting pistols and rifles at paper even some of my cool guns. I have the most fun shooting sporting clays with a nice O/U.

A 12 Gauge Pump Shotgun (Usually a Benelli Supernova or Remington 870) with buckshot or slugs.

I will have to say it’s hard not to smile when you shoot at a steel plate at 400yds with a 22 rimfire and wait a few seconds for that sound “tink”….. so I say the B14R trainer.

Smearing some tainted trapping bait on a white blank target and killing the flies that land on it with a tricked out 10/22.

Yep at 350 yards I can send first round to see where I’m at on steel then send the other 9 rounds before the first impact. So I’d say KIDD 10/22 for sure.

My Remington Mohawk. It’s the rifle that I did the most work on to make it a good shooter that meets a need I recognized. I found bottom metal, changed the trigger, worked on barrel channel, sourced a good rail, mounted and bore sighted the scope I selected. At the range, pretty satisfying. Riding shotgun in the Ranger and knowing it’s good from 50-500 yards,,,,even better.

This is my 2nd favorite. Ive never considered my B14R a trainer….its my goto rimfire rifle. Accurate as hell and gets alot of attention at the range everyone wanting to know what kind of rifle it is.

Got a 617 for Christmas to match my 629. Love it

Golf all races with Winchester 62s is a lot of fun.

S&W 629 shooting better groups at the Garland range than rifle shooters on each side of me.

I never have been one to waste ammo at the range. I have always been able to hit what I aim at with any weapon until I bought an AR. I can’t shoot a running animal worth a [censored] with it. The pistol grip is not natural for me. I’ve spent a lot of powder at my range and I don’t see a lot of improvement on moving targets. Tho swing is not natural. I like the idea of the AR, but I can kill more hogs out of a group with my bolt gun. After the first shot I’m torquing it when I squeeze the trigger. Trying snap shots in the pasture but not being successful so far. I’ll make it happen but it’s pissing me off.

A youth model Rossi 22 pump rifle I got when I was 8 yrs old. I don't pull it out very often anymore, but when I do it's a lot fun.

7mm-08AI, The ping of steel has yet to get old. I don't have to be too concerned with wind. It's just fun. I plan to acquire a 223 bolt before I begin running the AC this year. That may change my tune.

Whatever the current new build is…this month it’s a 22 Gaymoor. The anticipation and giddiness I get leading up to load development is dumb but I’m starting to think it’s an addiction.

It’s very satisfying to create something then watch it shoot extremely well…it’s a fair amount of time and work for me still so that reward is huge. Dumb I know…but you asked and my answer is mine constantly changes.

At the range - Savage .17HMR...it's just fun to shoot. At the lease - 3-400 rounds plinking with my Ruger AR.

Gotta be the 10/22. KYL is fun with it but it gets old after the first couple of runs, think I’ll try the fly thing.

I enjoy shooting steel plates with handguns the most.

Shotgun: A Winchester SX-1 with custom fitted wood or a Model 12 pigeon grade
Rimfire rifle: A Savage imported Anschutz from I think the late 1960s or a Remington 40x
Centerfire pistol: HiPower
Rimfire pistol: A S&W Model 41.
Centerfire revolver: S&W Model 57 with full power loads with an XTP bullet.
Rimfire revolver: Colt Diamondback.
Centerfire bolt gun: A worked over Winchester Model 70 chambered in what ever barrel I happen to have screwed onto it at any given moment. Usually a 7mm Ricky Bobby cartridge of some sort.
Ceterfire semi-automatic: A match M1 Garand.
Centerfire full auto: One of my Browning 1919s.

Watching my kids shoot anything brings me a lot of joy.

100+ year old pop guns are fun as hell to shoot.

These days its my defiance, 7 twist 223 in a krg whiskey 3 chassis wearing a nx8 4-32 I shoot 80.5 fullbore bergers around 3k and can shoot dang near anything I can see

It’s a hard question, but since you specifically said “at the range”, I guess I’ll go with this.

That’s pretty much me as well. Especially if it’s something no one has any experience with. 22 Creedmoor back in 2012 was was one and more recently getting early start on7PRC was fun.

I’d probably have to go with my first rifle, a Remington first gen sendero in 270 win. Given its weight it’s always been very pleasant to shoot off the bench and has always shot nearly everything I fed it well.

AI or standard 223? 80.5 in a standard going 3k sounds like the ragged edge of sanity. maybe over the edge. Of course, your rifle, your loads, your data, I'm just assuming.

Decisions

Custom 10/22 hands down.

I have a 28” Bartlien and yes its hot leaves a tiny shiny spot on the case head but bolt lift is easy and i am not seeing any leaky primers using lapua brass and a cci 450 it is a standard 223 chamber with a bit extra freebore so I can sit the bullet out long. If a 30” finished length was available I would had bought it instead, it’s really funny how when you get into the 27-30” barrels the speed is awesome.

Benelli Ethos Sporting Clays gun.

Bone stock 10/22 with a cheap scope lets me ring steel at 300 for a few bucks/hour a couple of times every week. My GP100 is right behind it.
Funny, but I am the most accurate with those two. Can't imagine why.

My S&W model 14 and model 27's shooting cast lead reloads.

Any .22 LR with a suppressor, pistol or rifle.

I get zero joy in going to or shooting at any range. Only reason I go is to sight in or confirm gun is zeroed. Fire as few shots as possible and leave before anyone can ask me about my setup. One of my cheapest rifles is prob my favorite to shoot at live targets. It’s a Ruger American Predator in 308. Shooting suppressed recoil is light and it shoots lights out.

We would have to define the 'range' first.

I have paper targets, steel targets, I can shoot pistols from arms length and rifles out 300 yds. on my personal range.

Out to a mile on a private range.

IF I could only have one firearm to play with it would have to be one my O/U shotguns on a Skeet or Sporting Clays range. I never get tired of that.

I guess second would be any of my semi-auto pistols on steel or paper....particularly in self defense scenarios.

What a great thread and a tough choice. I love to shoot handguns with my cast bullets. I get a big kick out of stretching out my rifles. Shotguns are the only thing I shoot on public ranges though. Favorite would have to be 410 OU on a skeet field.

Favorite is my 30-06 but still the fun gun is a Remington 22-250. Generally, shoot at the lease to zero in and rarely go to the range.

I am going to say my Tareass TS 22s. I have a standard first run and a RD Comp. Just a fun gun to shoot open or red dot. Accurate ,fast and fun.

I never thought I'd be in this camp, but I am. Love clays/skeet on my A400, love my tricked out Tikka CTR, love my customized 10/22 and my Annie 54 sporter, love my S80 Colt 1911 and my 1944 Remington Rand 1911 but right now my M1 is hard to beat.

I want a dueling tree. Fun time with the Glocks was had with a friend that had one.

Favorite by far has to be a nice O/U at the clay range.

Wanting to spend some more time with the 10/22 I pieced together last year. To nice of a gun to have 200 rounds down the tube.

My M1 Garand is still my favorite and gets the most attention.

.410, 1100. It's like shooting a BB gun. Really fun to shoot. I hate there is no ammo around.

My Bergara Ridge chambered in 7-08. It's extremely accurate with my hand loads and doesn't kick.

I really like my M1 Garand but I have a KRISS Victor and that is my favorite.

I almost forgot about one of my most favorite for the range. Another from my Swedish military rifle collection. It is an 1867-89 Husqvarna Rolling Block made in 1869. A friend hand picked it in Sweden and imported it himself. Originally would have been in 12.17x42R Rim Fire. Then converted to 12.7x44R centerfire starting in 1889 by replacing the breechblock and hammer. I first tried fire forming 348 Winchester brass and that did not work out. then I went with 50 Alaskan Brass and it did not work out either. It was as if my rifle had an oversize rim and chamber. After doing a cast of the chamber it turned out 50-70 brass fit perfectly without cutting down the brass andit also provided the larger rim diameter I needed to extract right. I believe the rifle had been converted to 50-70 at some point which would not have taken much to do considering the Swedes developed the original round from our 50-70 to begin with. I only shoot it with black powder loads and cast bullets. That big puff of smoke with every shot is so cool. Not to mention shooting a 150+ year old rifle. I made up 50 big game hunting rounds for it long ago and sighted it in for them, but have yet to take it hunting.

Haven't done it in years but always fun to go to a public range when they are busy and breakout the true BP loads. Some just do not seem to appreciate that burning Sulphur smell while others think it is cool.

I've got a T/C r22 (10/22 clone) that is a S&W Performance center rifle. I put it in a Titan 10/22 stock and Have a Crimson Trace 5 series mil scope on it. On my private range, out to 200 yards it's a hoot to shoot steel at distance. Also have a KYL target with the smallest spinner at .5", and a small dueling tree. It's even more fun to sit on the Pond dam and snipe turtles with it...although, I'm starting to run low on turtle targets.

S&W Performance Center stuff doesn't get much attention. My AR-15 in .300 BO was ordered direct from the S&W Performance center and sent to my FFL. They're definitely a step up.

If I had a sweet set up like Flintknapper, I would have many more. Thats the problem I have is nowhere FUN to shoot. Gun ranges get boring just running drills on paper targets.

The 22lr bug bit me recently, so right now, precision rimfire, which will be a Bergara B14R when I get a scope on it. Handguns it has to be my 10mm 1911.

My favorite shooter, on the right, is a 6.5 CM hunting rifle by Mesa Precision. It weighs in at just under 9lbs with a cheapo bipod.

With DCR's 153 A-tips, she finishes mid-pack in club-level precision matches (500-1200) against purpose-built bench guns.

I absolutely agree with d Stroud . I can shoot my CZ MTR all day long all the way out to 500 yards it is a blast. And when I say all day I mean all day 2 3 4 500 rounds it does not make a difference it doesn't get hot it just keeps shooting. No recoil and lots of practice reading the wind.
