Taurus TX22 or Glock 44?

Taurus TX22 or Glock 44? - 01/30/22 07:47 PM

I'm wanting a good, light 22 semi auto. Which should I go with? I love the trigger on the Taurus but have had crap luck with with their firearms. On the other hand I've had great luck with Glock firearms. What say the experts?

Read a whole lot of good about the Taurus.

That being said I would probably go for the 22/45 lite or a sr22

I have a TX22C setup with a Burris Fastfire I need to go shoot. Won the pistol in a raffle and had the Fastfire laying around.

First Taurus I've ever owned is a TX22. Very nice pistol , light weight, 16 round mag, very accurate and fun to shoot. I'm happy with mine.

Seems like Taurus is winning

Which is odd, I always considered them cheap pieces of crap

They have changed a lot since the Brazil days. Now in Georgia and much better engineering and QC.

There is my problem. I bought a brand new G3 and every 4th round on either msg it jams.

For a fart around gun, I might try a Taurus if you like the trigger. For something you may depend on to save your life one day? No way no how.

I just posted this recently. Check it out. The last two days I had it at the lease, wore it all weekend while doing everything, riding the ranger, filling feeders, laying on the ground prone while hog hunting, etc. Very dusty up there and by plan it was covered in it. I probably put 150 rounds through it, three different types of ammo and it didn't have a single issue. Accuracy is great, I'm getting better with it and it's a lot of fun to shoot. That's a 8" plate leaning up against the bottom of the tree. I need a smaller plate. [Linked Image]

Personally, I'd go with the Glock. But I've also heard great things about the Walther P22 Q... I'd definitely like to try each of them.

My wife has an older P22 and out to 25 yards it's one fine shooter.

I have about 13 years out of one Glock, a Model 22 Gen. 3. I like the similarity of the 44. Grip, sight picture, ease of cleaning, etc.. [Linked Image]

This is what I shot through it this weekend. I have a farm store I've found on the way to the Panhandle that is an ammo gold mine. Bought a box of 50 of the Aguila, and on the way home stopped again and bought a pile of it.

My buddy brought a P22 last time we met at my place. It ran flawlessly and I couldn't miss with that thing.

I had a couple of TX22s, no complaints, except for the, IMO, poorly thought out sights... As part of an attempt at down-sizing, I sold both, but still have three Glock 44s. Since most of my center-fire pistols are Glocks, the 44 is the better choice for me.

The TX22 is a better gun that the Glock, have to shoot both side by side to tell. I can't get mine to jam, and the trigger is much nicer than the G44. G44 isn't a bad gun at all, but Taurus did a better job with the TX.

Alright let's do this! I think Ox19 is close to me, we meet at a local range and go through an equal count of the same ammo. Get a total of FTF & FTE. Accuracy, we need an unbiased volunteer to shoot them both after we burn up about 500 rounds on the function test. I know a guy. He's not my BIL, he's everybody's.

Re: Taurus TX22 or Glock 44? - 02/03/22 07:12 PM

I've never shot or handled the G44. Since I'm not a Glock owner, a 22 pistol wasn't serving as a trainer. I do have a Sig P226 in 22lr I bought as a trainer. That dang thing will run about 3 loads reliably. Everything else seems to jam almost every magazine. The TX22 has been flawless. We put Winchester white box 500-525 round ammo over the Christmas break. The only jams was my eldest son riding the slide. I really like shooting it.

I ordered me a TX22 today. Haven't shot either but I really like how the Taurus feels in my hand, the 16 round mags, and the trigger is better. Hopefully I don't get a dud.

Re: Taurus TX22 or Glock 44? - 02/04/22 03:14 PM

Alright ,here is my take on the TX22. I own 2. The first one is a 3 digit serial # gun I bought used about 2 years ago. Other than a barrel that looks like it was bored with a horseshoe file, it's been great. Acurate, trouble free and fun to shoot.. Round count is near 4000 since I owned it. Barrel does not like lead bullets But if you keep it cleaned. Plan on replacing barrel soon with a good one. After a year trying to find a TX22 Comp, I found one. Better than I ever hope for. First mag, slow fired at 20 yards grouped under 2 inches. Not centered well but nice group. I looked at rear right and it was all the way right. A small adjustment to the middle and it was centered. Next mag was shot as fast as I could gain sight picture, was 2.5 inches. The grip frame is like a CZ75 which I shoot well ,helps with the natural point of this handgun. After the first 500 rounds only 4 malfunctions. Ammo problems to blame. Federal bulk. CCI standard velocity shoot real tight groups and my shooting buddy( neighbors 11 year old son ) can go 10 for 10 in 12 ga. shotgun shells at 15 yards. I may have taught him too well. Y'all Glock people buy the Glocks but those who want a fun ,accurate 22 that will out shoot the Glocks, but a TX22.

If you like Glock, as you said, then stay with it. It's made to function the same as all of the others. I have been carrying a Glock since 1986. The 44 is a great shooter. Just use some high velocity rounds through it.
