Looking for opinions on a good muzzle brake for my son's Remington 700 in 308. Any info would be helpful, thanks.

A local smith will have to install it.

There are so many to choose from, personally I like VAIS, very effective and wont ruin the aesthetics of your rifle.

Now, this being said, if 90% of your shooting is done prone, off the ground, then I would look into an indexed brake where the gasses are directed horizontally. It will kick up much less dust.

Some of the brakes are cheap, and look like a tumor on the end of your barrel. Do your home work, decide your budget, go for it.

Look on you tube and manufacturers websites decide the look you like, they are all effective and your Son will love it.

Another note, You can also buy Low recoil cartridges, Hornady makes a "Custom light" and will kill deer, etc, very dead.

Little Bastard Muzzle Brake
Works very well on my 300 Win Mag so it should work great on your 308.
You can index at any angle/direction with a small crescent wrench or pop it off and put a suppressor on it.
