Probably because no one is chambering new rifles in that cartridge anymore - that I know of.

It probably also depends on what the demand is as far as a business stocking the "seasonal" production that is available.

I own both a Marlin 336D and Rem 600 chambered in 35 Rem and I haven't seen it on the shelf within 50 miles of me in 6 to 8 years. Within that same radius, I've never run across another 35 Rem shooter. Right now, I'm sitting in Burnsville, MN, visiting family, and was just at Mills Fleet Farm which is a Bass Pro Shop and Lowe's all rolled into one store and there is plenty of the Rem 200-grain stuff. It is marked down $2 a box to about $26 with a limit of 10 boxes per customer. I looked to see if they had online ammo sales but unfortunately they don't. To make my point, this is still a very popular cartridge here.

My needs are filled by casting and reloading & I have squirreled away adequate components. I would be happy to bring it south but don't want to get stuck with it as I just don't need it despite owning two 35 Rems. I will be here for about 5 more days, let me know if I can help and we will figure it out.

Love me the .35, on paper it doesn't look too good but in the deep woods it a real killer.

Marlin still does. With the new Hornady bullets the 35 Remington is good for 200 yards, about as far as I would shoot a lever gun at anything in any case.

It's definitely a better killer than the 30-30. If I were in the market for a new Marlin 336, I'd go for 35 Remington.

35 Remington also makes a very good choice in the TC Contender and Encore pistols.

I had a 600 in a 35 rem for some time...that is a rare bird...great accurate little gun and great round, I have a carbine barrel for my contender...have not taken it out in awhile....guess I will have to...

Do you fine threads like this make you want to pull out a gun that has been sitting in the safe for a while and put it back into use? I know it has happened to me on more than a few occasions.

Yeah, I really like my 600. It has the Heritage Arms aluminum rib and floor plate plus a Timney 700 trigger. I have a Bushnell scope on it but been looking for a Redfield Jr. 60010 scout mount and once I have that it will wear a Weaver Classic K4 Scout scope.



The Marlin 336D is a sweet rifle. The "D" was a special run, 500 or them, guide gun chambered in 35 Rem.



I also have a H&R SB2 chambered in 35 Rem but don't mess with it much.

Thanks! Both the 35 Rem and Rem 600 are lost treasures in my opinion. When you find them in a single package, it is a sweet rig!

Love that little marlin....I looked at one of those...special run a Lipses..I think a few years back...yes I will have to pull the contender barrel out...

When I was in the Army and lived in Georgia, I shot a huge hog straight on (in the forehead) and it didn't phase it. I went to my gunsmith and he recommended a 35 Remington (of course he had one handy). I bet I killed over 1000 hogs with that gun walking the right of ways with lease members. Heck of a brush gun for hog and bear. I even shot a BC qualified buck with it on my home turf in Kansas. Stayed in the safe for several years until I sold it on this site a few years ago. My main complaint with it was the lack of available ammo when going out of town to hunt.

Kind of like the 6mm remy.....it just didn't catch on very well. For the record, I think both are awesome rounds.

I would have to go back and look at my paperwork that came with the rifle but I think that it was 2000, funny don't seem that long ago. The run of 500 was through Davidson's; hence, the "D" in the designation.

The 35 Rem has pretty much dropped into the reloaders hands as ammunition availability is no longer dependable. I am surprised that it continues to be offered in the Marlin line as in 2010, Marlin was building fewer that 500 units a year. That is the point that they deem a offering as unviable. I've been very surprised that Rem continued to chamber it.

There is another 35 Rem that is still cataloged and that is the CVA Hunter & Scout. Last year I bought a Hunter Compact and it was a very nice rifle but I should have bought the full size rifle. "Compact" is code for youth and the rifle was just too small for me. I have a friend that took a shine to it so I gave it to him.

My little contender is a 16.5 in barrel...I have a custom thumbhole stock, it rides nice on the pimped out golf cart....

It is about the same effect of the 35 Rem out of the compact. It also requires a tight hold as the rifle torques against the bullet traveling down the rifling of the barrel. A light rest on a bench leaves the rifle on its side at the shot!

Great caliber for deer and hogs inside of 150 yards. I used a Marlin 336T in that caliber for years. It was every bit as effective as my 270, 260, and 308. Got pass through every time, best I can remember. Only limitation was range, or I'd still be using it.
