Nikko Golden Eagle 7000 - 08/01/14 12:34 PM
I traded for a 243 for my wife. Anybody know much about them? From what I can find, they were Japanese made and modeled after the Weatherby Mark V. Made from 1977-1981. Nikko also manufactured some rifles for Weatherby and Winchester. 24" barrel and beautiful walnut stock. Eagle emblem in the grip cap. Rosewood end cap. She said it was heavier than she likes, so I may end up selling or trading for something else. Any idea on value? The stock is near perfect. Bluing on the barrel has some freckles but no rust.

Edit: my whole post was so far off I'm going back to bed! I was thinking about their shotguns. Sorry.

I thought Nikko was owned by Legacy Sports, which also owns Howa which is essentially a Weatherby Vanguard. Why have two of the same designs? Very confusing.

Get a hold of Fjeasteds Blue Book. They explain Nikko & Golden Eagle very well.
I have a 7000 Golden Eagle in 270.
Also have a couple of their O/U shotguns.
Very seldom will you find them on a site where you purchase mass produced guns like Gun Broker if you are looking for a market price.
You may find one that sneaks out of a personal collection every now and then, but not often.

I have seen them PRICED as high as $950. I think they are beautiful rifles, but I wouldn't pay near that for one. My FIL has one... it's trigger is TERRIBLE and is not very accurate.
Your experience may vary, but my opinion is that they are $450-600 rifles.
