Suppressor Recomendations

Suppressor Recomendations - 07/27/14 02:53 AM

I already have a form 1 in que with the ATF I have a goal to build my own in the future. However I also want to buy a factory built at some point. Since I know there are many class 3 people on here who appreciate the benefits of suppressors I'm fishing for suggestions. I would be looking for something 30 caliber, direct thread or QD could go either way on that. Rated for 300WM would be ideal, probably going to go with Titanium to cut back on weight. Looking for something quality and durable but that also has a decent sound reduction. Doesn't have to be the absolute quietest of top of the line suppressor by any means. Probably looking to spend right at about $1200 not including the stamp. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Most suppressor companies will require a minimum 24" barrel for 300 Win Mag.
I haven't shot it, but you might look at the SilencerCo Harvester. It's light weight for hunting. It's not for rapid shooting, I think 3 shots per minute max.
Other than the Harvester, YHM or Thunder Beast are the main brands you will want to be looking at for 300 WM.

Look at the 762 saker. That's my next one.

SilencerCo Harvester. It is ridiculous how lightweight it is. 6 shots per minute is the only caveat.

The YHM 30 cal Phanton TI and the SilencerCo Harvester were actually two I was seriously looking at. I'm thinking I may go for a QD type suppressor because my other one is going to be direct thread and used primarily on bolt guns. I've shot and handled the YHM TI suppressor and was pretty impressed with the sound reduction and everything about it even shooting standard loads it was quiet. The hard part is deciding what I want to sell to fund the purchase of the suppressor. Trying to get this done before January 1st when supposedly things start changing with trusts etc.

I know you said you want titanium but I have a Specwar 762, here is what it sounds like with the .300 blk shooting subsonic ammo. .300 wm rated, along with full auto, and a lot cheaper than 1200 bucks.

Oh and for those that like real quiet, enjoy.....Silencerco Warlock II

You need a bolt action .22LR if you really want to hear quiet.

Well after 3 almost 4 weeks my form 1 was approved, I am debating sending off for a second stamp since the first one was so fast and easy. I'm still planning on also buying a factory built suppressor but hoping that process becomes simpler and I can efile on a form 4.

I have a .30 phantom titanium! I run it on my tikka .300 winmag, kimber Montana .243 and my lightweight ar-15. Silencer shop has them for 795, right now. My first was a phantom ss, but wanted something light for my lighter rifles, it resides on my heavy barrel .308 now!

Sdunshee, i have a spectre 2 and its a nice suppressor, just as quiet as my aac element ii, just heavier.

Re: Suppressor Recomendations - 08/17/14 12:01 AM

the saker 7.62 is 300 win mag on 20 in barrel...

Weight was its a bit more than the harvester but it for more robust. The harvester is a great can. It just has its place (6 shots a min)

big question is what are you going to do with it. If you are hunting and will only fire 1-2 rounds at a time the harvester is fine. If you want to make a run and gun sbr go saker IMO. The yankee hill is a fine can but the mounting season is nothing compared to the saker mount.

You have me totally rethinking whether I want to buy the YHM TI with the QD or the Saker now, on the bright side I know regardless it will be a great suppressor.

Tpm outfitters in Carrollton made mine, awesome product and great service. Plus if you have an issue it's a 2 day turn around instead of 2 months.
