22/45 LITE or SR22 for Suppressor Use - 04/18/14 03:09 AM

As the title says, which would you choose? Purpose is just having fun at the range. It's down to the two, no other models.

22/45 no question. I'd rather not have a lite though. JMO

Mine does not have a suppressor but my 22/45 Lite is one of the most fun guns I have ever owned.

Man, that is very nice, 30378. I really wish they still made the LITE in gold.

I went with the 22/45 light after shooting both.
I liked the trigger upgrade options for the 22/45..

Like the greenish ones? Shoulda got one when they were choking the shelves. I guess they're hard to find now.

Gotta post a pic of my non-related Ruger just 'cause.

Definitely look at the disassembly on youtube.
22/45's are nice guns, I'd love to have one, but they look
like a bit of a pain tear down and put back together.

If you use MKII trigger kit and hammer bushing the mag safety is left out which makes the tear down and reassembly easier.

My 22/45 lite, perfect for a suppressor, as it ads a little weight! Vq hammer and sear, tandem cross bushing to delete the magazine safety, tandem cross spring assist +1 magazine base, tandem cross loaded chamber indicator delete!
She shoots great and has a great trigger. Aac element 2 suppressor.

I want the 2014 model. Although I would probably get it Cerakoted Fire Engine Red.

Where did you get your grips, looking for something different for my .22/45

Any 1911 grips will fit the 22/45's with changeable grips.

Re: 22/45 LITE or SR22 for Suppressor Use - 04/28/14 02:46 AM

Got them off eBay from a guy that hand makes them (username franketrozzo). If you look very closely in person you can see acceptable flaws that prove hand-made. The 1911 grips aren't a perfect fit. If you like custom grips on a 22/45RP, buy ones made for a Ruger. There are subtle differences. The 1911 grips have a couple cut outs that are not needed on a Ruger and look weird.

Have you considered the Browning Buckmark? Makes a great suppressor host.

The first couple times maybe, gets easier. Removal of the mag safety makes it much simpler.
