26 Nosler rifles?

26 Nosler rifles? - 04/02/14 08:58 PM

When will the 26 Nosler rifles be available? I've called a few of my wholesalers and no one knows anything.

Also, what rifle mfg's have said they will be chambering in this caliber? I know Nosler is coming out with their own bolt rifle. Anyone else?

I have brass backordered, so I'm looking forward to playing with this round.

we called and can get the reamers really easy but sounds like this is not the end all be all of rifles everyone is hoping for. We called because we were going to wildcat it in a 7 and a 30, but nosler already has those done too and reamers as well. sounds like the 7 is a better shooing round. Just hear say I have not messed with it personally yet.

We are also talking about the same thing. Necking it up to 7mm would be ideal for this case.

I find it hard to believe Nosler is already selling 7mm and 30Cal reamers. They could have a fight on their hands since these cartridges are known as the 7mm and 300 Dakota.

NOSLER have the rifles for their 26
I was going to carry some but decided on other inventory

I suspect they sold or pre-sold their inventory of 26 rifles at SHOT SHOW in Jan

Might make a difference but the Nosler rep I talked to said it was simply a 7mm Dakota necked down with no other changes.

Nosler doesn't sell the reamers. You buy reamers from a tooling company, like Pacific Tool and Gauge. PT&G already has 26 Nosler reamers, and you can tell them to make one in 7mm or 30 cal, also. It's actually pretty easy to get reamers for wild cats and such. Someone will neck this thing down to 6mm (.243"), and have a screamer!!!

Both the Dakota and 26 Nosler cases are designed from the 404 Jeffrey case. The shoulder angle on the 7mm Dakota case is 30 degrees, and the 300 Dakota is 32 degrees. The 26 Nosler is case is 35 degrees, so it's a different angle from the Dakota cases. But both are the same parent case.
