As far as pistols and rifles, yes, in shotguns Ruger has a way to go.

Re: Any Ruger fans? - 01/19/14 12:28 PM

Yeah, I am. The pistols fit my hand better than most other brands. I got my first 10/22 yesterday. I don't know why I waited all these years to get one. I can see me getting addicted to those lil rifles.

Re: Any Ruger fans? - 02/16/14 08:40 AM

I have a Single Six Convertable that I'll never get rid of, same goes for my 10/22 and an early Security Six. Also have a SR 556 E that I've fallen in love with. Used to have a GSR that was a solid rifle, and I really need to replace the 6" GP100 I traded a couple of years back with a 4" model.

ETA- Got a beautiful new Mk II Target today. It's a tackdriver!

Thank you geezer ranger. You are the best, brother! cheers

Re: Any Ruger fans? - 02/16/14 02:33 PM

I bought my 1st Ruger in 1959; it was a lightweight Single six with the steel cylinder. I would not even want to hazard a guess how many I have bought, sold and still have since. Yes, they can become addicting. Many even call themselves Ruger Collectors.
I have had an FFL for over 30 years and deal exclusively in Rugers, primarily collectibles and The No.1 rifle

I have no love for a ruger. Never had one that shot good. That said....I'm thinking of giving the american in a .223 compact a try this yr though.

Re: Any Ruger fans? - 02/17/14 03:08 PM

I became a majority Ruger because it seems they offer the best choices for quality, price, and feel.

My first was a Single 6 years ago.....Nothing else like it. A 10/22 seemed like a must have and felt and shot better than anything I picked up.

When the SR1911 came out, it just had quality fit and finish and was priced better than others. Mine feels and shoots dependably/accurately better or as well as 1911's double it's price.

My GP100 6" 357 Mag has surpassed all my expectations for an accurate dependable revolver.

SR9C is an accurate, comfortable shooting carry gun.

The 22/45 Mark III series of 22 semi autos is fantastic. Great value, accurate, dependable. Kind of tough breaking down when new but once one gets the reassemble down, not an issue.

I've not owned any Ruger centerfire rifles, but have heard mostly top notch reviews.

I just think they are a top US made product and haven't resorted to offshore parts or assembly like many other US companies have turned to doing for whatever reason. That means something, to me anyway.

Re: Any Ruger fans? - 02/17/14 03:41 PM

I have never been a fan of any brand, but Ruger's always seemed to find a way into my safe
380 LCP
22 Single Six
25-06 M77
243 M77
12 gauge Red Label
357 revolver
9mm P85
The Red Label is the only that has given me any problems. Tends to fire both barrels at times, OUCH!

The only Ruger I've got is a 204 Varmint, and it's a tack driver. At the moment I'm looking for a No.1 in 6.5x55......Always wanted one

Re: Any Ruger fans? - 02/19/14 03:53 PM

When I was 14 I spent the summer mowing yards so I could buy my first deer rifle....M77MKII Stainless .270 & Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x40

Total cost in 1999 = $900.00 out the door and it was the best money I ever spent on a gun; 16years later I own rifles that cost 3X what I paid for this rifle and scope together.....but none of them shoot as well.

Actually every M77 I have ever owned shot well; and lets face it the 10/22 is the BEST .22 EVER MADE!

I lost count at 50 deer killed with this rifle and that was in 2009.

Re: Any Ruger fans? - 02/19/14 09:09 PM

Love Ruger. My 30.06 M77 is the best rifle I've ever owned. Bought the gun in 1999, sighted in the scope, and it's shot true for 15 years. I haven't had to tweak the windage/elevation on the scope even once!

Ruger Rawks!

Funny, I haven't found a factory rifle that I haven't had to tweak...of any manufacture. Including my Sako and kimbers and especially Remington.

Yep. Love me some Ruger M77's. I have owned many calibers and still have 30-06, 243 & 22-250. Been trying to wear out the 22-250 for 35 years and my groups are as tight as ever. Have maybe cleaned the bore 5 times in 35 years. Ruger's shoot better dirty.

Have a Red Label Woodside 12 gauge 28". My favorite gun hands down.

Re: Any Ruger fans? - 02/22/14 07:56 PM

Gas guzzler. I dig that 10/22 in the pic. Guess I just don't know the 10/22 well, but is that as special edition?

Re: Any Ruger fans? - 02/22/14 10:11 PM

I currently own or have owned more Rugers than any other brand beginning with a Super Single Six bought back in 72-73.

Since then I have owned;

2 10/22s,
Blackhawk .357,
.357 Service Six,
.22 Mark II Standard,
9mm P-95DC
and my latest an LC9.

I shot the LC9 for the first time today. I have never been disappointed by Ruger and am well pleased with the function and accuracy of the LC9 today.

I'm already thinking about my next Ruger hoping they put a hammer on the .22 lr LCR!

10/22 First gun I ever owned. My dad bought me and my older brother one each prolly 30 yrs ago. Still got it! I also had a new model Super Blackhawk .44 mag w/10.5" barrel. Shoulda never let that one go.

Only special to me. I built it from a plain carbine including the polish and woodwork. Thanks for the compliment.

You' ve got me lookin at 10/22's. Nice work!

Re: Any Ruger fans? - 02/25/14 04:48 AM

Thanks. I'm sure you can do the same. I have another stock, barrel band, butt plate for a project. That stock was a plain "hardwood" stock I stripped the Ruger mud from before the stain. I will likely do something similar with the new set I have and do it to resell. Looks like late May before I can put something for sale here because of obvious posting rules.
