Aftermarket trigger

I have a horrendous trigger on a savage 110. I successfully lightened its pull, but the creep I cannot solve. It is time for an aftermarket alternative. I know the brand names: Jewell, timnney, rifle basix, etc... My question is directed to those that have experienced an aftermarket trigger in their savage, and their personal stories as to the pros and cons of different models.

I have a Timney in my Ruger and would recommend it to others. No issues with it at all.

Varget thanks for the info, how would you rarebit against some of the other well known brands?

I only have experience with SSS and Rifle Basix. the Basix was good, but I like the SSS a bit more. The instructions were more comprehensive and it was simpler to install. I really couldn't say anything bad about the RB, though. It is great, the SSS is just better.

I have Timney triggers in my bolt guns. I can't think of anything negative to say.

Timney! The only problem is that the rifle with the Timney is so good to shoot that I want a Timney in all the rifles.

I put a Timney trigger kit in a bud's Ruger 77. It absolutely fixed the problem for $30.

I put a complete Timney in my Rem 700 action. Nothing but good to say about it.

A good trigger makes for good hunting.

I just put a timney in my savage 11. World of difference. Much better than the 100lb pull it had before...

I think it will help, I was going to jump into rebarrelling project, but figured the first priority is to get an improved trigger to see if it will have the feel and action I desire before pouring more money into it.

One thing I never see mentioned is trigger shoes. I had an original Savage which was a 110LP (left hand, premier grade). I got Dwight Ingram to overhaul the 1967 8 lb trigger and then put a Shoe on it. Darned near got a bench rest gun. I just installed one on my M1A and left the group for Art to rework it down below 4 lbs.

I was shooting 5 inch groups at a 100 yards with my rem 700 308 and rem 700 223 the triggers stock where about 5 lbs +, I switched both of them to Jewell triggers with a one # pull and consistently shoot about 1/2 in groups at 100 yds, now I hits coyotes at 300 moving shots where I aim consistently . But I have learned that your finger goes nowhere near the trigger till your ready to fire. I was going to get a trigger job done and by the time I paid for the gas ,waited for the call to pick it up and then went to pick it and then went to try it out and the had to fill out all the transfer forms I would have spent 400 dollars in time and money
Instead I just called Jewell told them what I wanted ,installed the trigger( easy) and went about my business net savings was about 100.00
I never tried timney or rifle basix ,my guess is that they are all an improvement over the stock trigger.
