josh allen at smoking barrels gunsmithing has built several rifles for me and peeps I know that train at vxmarksmanship. we shoot to 1k yards regularly. last one he built for me was a .308 that was consistant at .5moa. and his pricing is very reasonable.

I use Scott Weichel in Wylie, He does great work and is fairly priced. He works full time for Stiller actions and builds rifles on the side.

Garland Gilbreath in Stephenville (Triple G Gunsmithing) or Mark Pharr (Tumbleweedsrifles.com) in Round Rock. We've used Garland on several occasions for custom builds and he always does top notch work. Most recently I used Mark because he was closer and turnaround was going to be quicker. I had him put together my 6XC. Thing shoots like a dream. All of the work was spot on.

Part craftsman, part machinist, part shooter, great smith and hellava nice guy. Built a custom for me on a Defiance Machine action. Without hesitation I 100% recommend.

Wait time would be a huge factor in my decision. I wouldn't want to wait 1-3 years for a build.
