They have invested in some projects that did not pan out for major contracts it sounds like.
H&K has always been top tier weapons. Why keep trying to re-invent the wheel when you own the dang wheel.

Same with AR's. Minor changes cosmetically and DI to piston driven systems but NO MAJOR OVERHAUL.

It just plain works!

Good , I hate those pricks. If they had it their way governments would be the only gun owners. Screw H&K.

H&K has made it clear they have think we have no right to guns, and have little interest in selling their guns to "us civvies."

I do love my USP, though.

Yup.

How's that working out for them.

I'd love to have a G36C ...civi version.

The reason HK rifles aren't imported is because they are "non-sporting rifles" and banned by the BATFE from importation.

Great blog entry about the whole deal.

For the price of H&K's they should be nowhere near debt. Poor money management on their part.

I will never buy an H&K. Overrated, overpriced, elitist crap.

Good link. I imagine all the haters will continue to hate; the truth cannot be allowed to contradict their opinion. Having never owned an HK or thought much about buying one, I still get firearm envy every time I see them demonstrated on some Military show. I didn't know I was supposed to hate them.

HK makes an excellent firearm. They are top notch.

Re: Heckler & Koch (Germany) In Dire Financial Straits - 07/23/13 07:05 PM

If they would come down on the 91's and 93's a bit, I bet they'd sell a ton of 'em. nidea

Re: Heckler & Koch (Germany) In Dire Financial Straits - 07/23/13 07:45 PM

That's too bad. I don't hate H&K at all but any pistol of theirs I have held or owned has been returned to the case quickly. Just doesn't feel right to me. (Personal preferences)

Re: Heckler & Koch (Germany) In Dire Financial Straits - 07/24/13 10:04 AM

They do make great firearms, but very over priced and very anti 2A. I'll never own an H&K again because of that....

IIRC, H&K stopped imports of 91s & 93s in the late-'80s. They stopped production of G3s in the late '90s.

Agreed! I've owned/own several pistols of different make and caliber. I have yet to be as impressed with anything like I am the USP. Now people, this is all strictly opinionated. What might be right for me is probably going to be different for anybody else. As long as you achieve your mission, does it matter? Here's to not hating

Love mine too... Best pistol I have ever owned hands down

Re: Heckler & Koch (Germany) In Dire Financial Straits - 07/25/13 01:08 AM

I love my USP. Best pistol I've ever owned. I've noticed with HK's people either love then or hate them for some reason.

Re: Heckler & Koch (Germany) In Dire Financial Straits - 07/25/13 01:56 AM

My only problem with them is magazine availability.

It's my go-to for "bet your butt on it" reliability.

Re: Heckler & Koch (Germany) In Dire Financial Straits - 07/25/13 02:17 AM

They dislike marketing stuff to the US civ market. Any firearm company that can't make money in this environment needs to take an economics lesson. Many other companies have gotten around the import restrictions, most recently the Tavor. Again, they should be making money hand over fist, but they aren't the coldest beer in the fridge.

A civi G36 would sell like crack, I love my real one.

Re: Heckler & Koch (Germany) In Dire Financial Straits - 07/25/13 02:22 PM

HK is one of a few companies that could go under and no one would really care or notice in America. Their stance on civilian ownership is lacking and they overcharge for a weapon that does the exact same thing for a few hundred dollars cheaper. I would not drop a penny on an HK product.

I just bought a 3rd (13 rnd)mag for $33.34 w/ tax&shipping. That's less than I've paid for any other mags I have minus the 10/22.

I wanted to give you the link, but they're already sold out - imagine that. Anyway, frontsightfirearms.com seems to have the best deal (when available).

I don't think most people will say that H&K has poor quality. They make good stuff. . . . They just make good products (not amazingly great) and a price +50% higher than the competition and make it abundantly clear that they have no interest in selling guns to civilians.

They can pound sand for all I care.

What's amazingly great? Glock? LOL.

I own three HK handguns and couldn't be happier. Not one thought in the back of my mind as to reliability if the situation were to require its use. My little bitty wife can shoot the 45 fine and never worries about failures.

Re: Heckler & Koch (Germany) In Dire Financial Straits - 07/27/13 01:06 AM

I have owned 4 of their pistols and 1 rifle. Very good reliability and good ergonomics. I find them aesthetically pleasing, but some shooters just don't like them. To each his own. But, IMO, they are not enough better than competing products to justify their prices.

Some of our government entities have found their service lacking and their parts availability to be sub-par. Their corporate arrogance may surpass Glock's (if that is even possible). So if they go under, it's a lick on them. If you can't make money in the gun business right now, you are never going to make it anyway.

I love my usp and I carry it on duty. I trust it with my life. Well, the gun + my ability to accurately shoot with it. Lol.

Re: Heckler & Koch (Germany) In Dire Financial Straits - 07/27/13 01:04 PM

I love my SLB 2000- it was a good deal, less than $800 converted from euros. I think that Haenel now owns that model or has taken the name of SLB 2000 from HK J&S (jagd und sport) a few years back.

HK really relied on the competition to unseat the Colt M4, but when our DoD shut down the competition, they had put all their eggs in one basket for the semi-auto market.

As far as the company's pricing towards average folks, like with anything German, you're paying for years of research and development with any rifle you buy from them. You are also getting a top tier weapon.

I carried H&K for a lot of years on duty. I'll gladly pay the price.

I'm priceless grin

Re: Heckler & Koch (Germany) In Dire Financial Straits - 07/29/13 02:36 PM

I've shot dozens of USPs.

Shot a bunch of Benellis when H&K had a part of them.

Shot around eight or nine different MP5 variants.

HK91s, 93s, G-3s, a couple G-36s when training in Germany.

Shot a half dozen or so P7's, a couple P9's.

They make nice stuff, but their stance on civilian ownership and cost mean I have no plans on ever buying one.

Not every German gun company is overpriced, and the Swiss aren't exactly immune to that either.

Where should I meet you so you can give them to me?

What is this "attitude" y'all speak of? I've never had to contact H&K about anything.

Already sold them, replaced them with Glocks. Best decision I have ever made!

I work in the firearms industry and have had to deal with HK multiple times. They suck!
