What are you using for preventing rust? - 02/12/13 06:18 AM
Curious as to what shooters are using to prevent rust on their blued firearms. Specifically referring to solvents/oils, not high dollar coatings or baked on finishes. Want to know what you are using for average hunting, not your safe queens or daily carry but your truck gun and go to gun. In my area we have a high humidity, and often taking a gun from the cold truck and bringing it into the cabin or house leaves it covered with condensation, plus I hunt/shoot in the rain.

I whipe it down with an oiled cleaning patch or towl every time I take i out.
Oil doesnt matter, if at home standing next to the safe there is remoil on top of the safe. If in the fild mobile one out of the extra quart in the back seat, if at the ranch rotela 15-40 out of the tractor botle. No vegi oil or anything like that, but im sure you know that.

Regular use and proper cleaning=no rust.
Having more guns than time to regularly use and properly clean them, I use BC Barricade wipes every time I put one away.

I've been watching a break disc test on another forum where the guy divides the disc into sections and applys different products. The disc is left in the weather. The two (bar none) winners are CLP and WD40 LTCI. Rem-oil sucked! I've always used CLP and would explain why I have no rust.

Wonder if that version of WD40 kills primers as fast as the original version
