5 firearms to hunt/protect/live with

If you could only own 5 guns, which ones would they be?

Here are mine:

Benelli R1 30-06 with comfertec
Browning xbolt, bar, blr or Ruger m77 varmint 22-250

Shotguns could be 3 possiblities
Benelli super vinci and ultralight
Benelli cordoba and beretta Xplor a400 Unico with kickoff
Browning Citori grade VII blue or cynergy field grade VI
Beretta Silver Pidgeon(one of them too lazy to look) and Beretta Xplor a400 Unico with kickoff

Pistol
H&k p30, USP, or sig Sauer p226

12 ga and a 22lr is all you need. The 12 will cover big and small game and the .22 will cover, well, big and small game.

I don't need 5 to survive. Give me a Remington 870 12 ga, a Marlin bolt action 22 lr and a 223 bolt gun and I'm golden.

A good heavy barreled 308, most likely a savage or 700 of some sort in a tactical type set up.
A threaded 10/22 with a silencer, because u never know when u have to be in ninja mode.

I can’t believe most of you are getting a 10/22.
If I only could have 5 guns, my 22lr choice would be a Cooper or an Anschutz and my only semi-auto rifle would be a high end 5.56 AR.

I put it on my list. For what I would "need" my 22lr to do in this scenario, it's more than sufficient.

Neither would I. I guess I'm looking at this through my SHTF goggles so refinement and aesthetics are very low, if not non-existent, on my list.

^^^ Im with you on that. 10/22 is a phenominal lil gun.

Lets see taking in to account firearms would be used for hunting and defense in a long term no replacement situation.

Benelli M4 Super 90 12 gauge, Can pull double duty as a defense and hunting shotgun although not ideal for hunting with changing chokes and shot size I could make it work.

Sig Sauer P228 9MM

LWRC REPR .308 win w/ 762SDN6 suppressor, would make a fine long range offensive firearm, while also filling the role of hunting or defensive semi auto rifle.

Ruger Single Six, would be a good pistol for hunting small game in closer.

Marlin 882 .22Magnum w/ 3-9x40 would fill the role of a light compact rifle but also capable of taking medium size game.

I'm with them. If I had to pick 1 .22 it'd be a Ruger 10/22.

This topic is about owning only 5 firearms. The way I understand it, it’s not necessarily focused on surviving the apocalypse.
Now at night, when I’m sipping a nice single malt whisky (I hope I’m not limited to 5 bottles in my lifetime ), I would much rather look, hold, handle and admire an Anschutz Classic Meister Grade instead of a 10/22.
I'll also have an AR for when SHTF.

Ruger 10-22 , + 5K+ rounds ammo & lots of clips. If I could only own one firearm. Good for gettin' groceries & self defense including zombies..

357 revolver 6", prefer Smith 686. Common ammo, big punch for hogs, medium to large (in a pinch) game , zombies and drug crazed attackers. One shot from a .357 may save 3+ rounds 22 LR.

Remington 700 bolt in 30-06. I shoot .270 but would choose 30-06 for more common ammo. For bigger game, and long range deterrence of attackers, especially pirates.

12 gauge pump shotgun with some slug ammo, and 00 ammo, as well as #8 shot for birds. Diverse selection of ammo handles all short range situations.

.38 Snub nose revolver. Surprise.

Thought about a 100000 times. Cant do it in 5 guns, maybe catergories.

(he enlightened me in the event of a catastropy, it is likely ammo from sporting goods store will taken first in all calibers) I should only make my go to firearms ones that you will be able to easily find ammo for. So that would lead me to military or law enforcement calibers which makes perfect sense. So that being said, 7.62x51 (.308), 7.62x39, 5.56 (.223), 9mm, .45 auto, 12 gauge and of course .22 cal.

parchaser, that's why i chose the 308, 9mm & 22. nothing wrong with a 22, you can carry 1000 rounds and it doesn't weigh anything. plus, for the most part, it will do what you'll need it to do with minimal noise. the supressor option is not realistic for the majority of us otherwise surpessor & heavier round would obviously be preferred.
