Nikon M-223 scope

Does anyone have one of these scopes, and if you do how do you like it? This is the first Nikon I have ever owned. I bought it from Cabela's when they were having thier big sale recently. I mounted it on one of my AR's, but haven't got a chance to shoot it yet.

Any input as to pro or con is welcome, thanks.

Mod., I've been using them since they came out and since before I started doing some work for Nikon. That scope is one of my favorites! Sight it in for 100 yards, lift and set turret and you are ready to go. Realize there are certain thing's you need to do. Remember it is set for a 55 gr. polymer tipped bullet
( I shoot FMJ's a lot) with a muzzle valocity of 3240 fps. I think you'll be very happy with it. Post a pic and review when you get dialed in Mod.

I personally think the m223 and luepold mark AR are a waste of time. The dials are calibrated to xxxx muzzle velocity with xx grain bullet which you may fall short of or exceed. At least the mark AR has the actuall MOA hashes and not just yardage marks like the m223. If you use only 1 type of ammo all the time an you meet the scopes criteria it's great. But "I" shoot 69gr SMK's for precision shooting from my 20" @ 2940fps and 60gr amaxs to hunt @ 3140 fps. Neither of which has the same trajectory that a 55gr @ 3100 fps has. Up to 200yds is fine, but nowhere near close at 250+. I still would rather spend the same money on a viper HS LR. You get a 50mm obj, 30mm tube and zerostop, not to mention its matching turret/reticle. After owning a leupy mark AR, ill save $450 for a vxll glass with tiny obj and turret that serves me not fn

cx, With your choice of ammo you are correct the M-223 Rapid Action Turret would not be the best choice. In the M-223 Series a BDC reticle would serve you very well though. I"m sure since you are already a mil fan you will not entertain my suggestion but that ok, my goal isn't to sell you a Nikon scope but to make sure you have the right information, then choose whatever you think will work the best for your needs. If you check out NIkonhunting.com, click on Spot On, it'll take you to a ballistic site where you can enter all your shooting data and then give you the corresponding distances for each BDC circle. How well does it work, well myself and other guy's I've shown this to have shot 4 inch jar's of Tannerite at 623 yards using stock rifles.

I understand where you are coming from completely. It's just a personal preference to use my dope and turrets and not limit the scope to just my .223. My viper hs LR is actually MOA/MOA whereas my NF is mil/mil.
