Tikka T3 Lite

Tikka T3 Lite - 05/19/11 01:13 PM

Opinions on this rifle. Looking to buy a .308 and was looking at this gun and a Ruger M77.

Already have positive experience with Ruger - but nothing with a Tikka.

Want a gun with accuracy at longer ranges.

Agreed, we own 4 of them. 2 are left handed actions for my left handed sons. I love the weight of the T3 lite when i'm elk hunting.

Have a T3 270 wsm and love it. Very, Very accurate. It is sub-moa out of the box. The actions is like glass.

I would take the Tikka. Got both Rugers and Tikkas. Out of the box with no work done the Tikka blows the Ruger out of the water.

If you are not dead set on .308, you might want to look into T3 in 6.5x55. It will perform better at long ranges due to slick bullets. T3 is a long action anyways so might as well use it.

Out of the two rifles, Tikka T3 would easily be my choice.

Tikka is a hell of a rifle. M77 is nice, I've owned one, but the Tikka is a whole other level. I liked my M77. I love my Tikka.

I've had both and I still have my T3, Ruger I got rid of. That will be the last .270 I will own.

Since only accurate rifles are interesting, I am interested in a Tikka too. A T3 Lite stainless/synthetic is on my short list of guns to get.

If you have the Fund go for the Sako 85 stainless. Just my 2cents.

Check BPS in Garland. Scored a Sako A7 there while back in 270 for the price of a Tikka. They shipped all their remaining A7 stock to that store to get ready for the new A7 Tecomate (different stock). Wouldn't hurt to look at other retailers as well. Might be hard to find though by now. If not go with the Tikka since its basically the same.

Tikka absolutely. I have a M695 in .270 and extremely accurate as for it being older and used well. Several friends have shot mine and wished were theirs.

Re: Tikka T3 Lite - 05/21/11 11:16 PM

my tikka m695 300 win mag out shoots my friends sako 85(i think its an 85). i remember the day he got a sako..."where your tikka has plastic mine is metal.." we get on the range..he is silent afterwards. then a week later at 7000 Ft elevation my tikka is dead on at 200yds his sako..could not hit the broad side of the hill we where shooting towards.

TIKKA FTW!!!!!!

I'll take a M595/695 over T3.

I have owned several Tikkas, all were absolute tack drivers
one ragged hole tack drivers, including the 308 stainless lite

I got lots of rifles and lately have gone to smaller calibers and my T3 lite SS in 6.5 x 55 is everything that has been said before, smooth, low recoil, I love the round and the rifle.

I have a 22-250 T3, which I bought from a guy off this forum. Love the gun, it will drive tacks and then some!

Re: Tikka T3 Lite - 05/24/11 03:35 AM

If you can get over all the plastic on the Tikka and running a short bullet in a long action, the Tikka will probably be more accurate with a variety of factory ammo.

If you are a "gun nut" then get the ruger-if you want a tool to do the job well with little hassle-get the Tikka.

I have a t3 lite 270 wsm left action with leupold scope and Kenton target turrets that I may be interested in selling. Want to get a T3 25.06 for my littlest in left, to keep us in the same caliber. Pm if interested. Btw it is a deer slaying machine. Beats the .308

A Tikka all the way! I have owned several brands of rifles, but out of the box, the Tikka is the best by far.
