Ammo won't cycle - 04/18/11 03:01 PM

I bought some 5.56 ammo at Cabelas a while back and took some out the other day to shoot and it won't cycle in my gun. Any ideas?

Is your gun designed to handle 5.56 or just .223?

Is this a fail to eject? Double feeding?

As others have stated, what type of gun? what type of ammo?

Yep.....need more info on exactly what its doing. Could be anything from bad mags to gas system problems.

Def need a new AR. I would suggest a custom Wilson.

I have no problems with all the other ammo I've shot except some accuracy issues but the better ammo shoots well enough. I doubt it's a mag issue. No jams, no smoke stacks, just doesn't pick up another round. It fires it, it ejects the spent casing.

Is it a piston upper?

Re: Ammo won't cycle - 04/22/11 02:50 AM

Not a pistons or bulls fan. Seriously, idk what the heck you are asking. It's a standard military upper with a Double Eagle lower. Got it through CMMG. Very pleased with it for what the investment was.

Somtimes gas piston uppers (piston driven insted of direct gas impengment) require a little hotter ammo to drive the bolt fully rearward. We had that problem on a rifle this morning and I thought that maybe you had the same issue.

I had the same issue with some Tula steel cased stuff bought from Cabelas last year in my 5.56 AR. Never figured it out. Cheap ammo for a reason, I'm sure.

I'll sell it cheap. Maybe it will work in your gun.

180 rounds of JSC I believe. It's a russian steel cased, non-corrosive round. 55grain fmj

What are the rules on shipping ammo?

Posted By: Bubbie

Re: Ammo won't cycle - 04/28/11 10:15 PM

Shipping ammo is not allowed via the post office, Fedex or UPS can take care of it though. It must be declared live ammo so it can be marked accordingly on the package. Once again, it is against the law to shipped via USPS or to ship it without being declared. How much do you want for it all shipped?
