PICTURE THREAD: Post your go to hunting rifle - 03/22/11 08:02 PM

I'm sure most of us have more than one hunting gun, but every hunter I know has a gun that they have a special connection with... the one that you prefer over all the others...

this thread is to show off that gun.

Below is mine

Her name is Katie. She's a Browning Stainless Stalker in .308 wearing her preferred accessory, a 3.5-10x50 Zeiss Conquest scope...

I have lots of guns, and all of them are for sale... except Katie

Mine is my ORC. 100% reliable, take can off to deer hunt with, and being a 308 can stop nearly any animal in North America. Very accurate as well.

how do you like that Accupoint? i had one for a while on my LAR8... very impressive in low light.

Kuddos on picking the right caliber smile 308 is clearly the best caliber out there.. FAR superior to 30-06 and .270 bolt

Completely different feel than a factory Remington though. Is that speed goat one of those $50,000 damage control goats?

No that one had a "I can keep him tag"...don't have a stomach anymore for the "none keep or touch tags"

LOVE, the accupoint. Its the perfect low light, and night scope as well. I had a 1x4 on this rifle before, but the light gathering sucks compared to the 40mm. I originally got this scope, because I was sick of losing a black reticle in a black hog at night. Ended up loving this scope, took a deer with it this year too. They are built real tough too. MY ORC took a spill out of a 14 foot tripod months ago. The Troy rail gave out (changed that now as well too), but the ADM mount, and Accupoint were still right on the money.

I have several "go to" guns, as I wouldnt own a gun that wasnt accurate. But if I had to choose, it would be my Sendero SF II in 25-06 with a VX-3 30mm tube 4.5-14x50

Yes. grin

Later that week the Game Wardens came out to do a theft investigation on the lease and they found where I shot the Turkey. They asked if I knew anything about all the feathers in that area and I told them I had shot the Turkey. His response was something along the lines of "must have been a big gun". rofl

If you hit them high in the neck or back you wont do any damage to the meat and its a quick kill as well.

Benelli R1 Carbine 30-06, Trijicon 2.5-10x56

This rifle does it all well, but the ability to routinely hit running targets like I know what I'm doing (which I don't!) is what makes me love this rifle!

Tikka Whitetaiol Hunter 243 Win, Bushnell 4200 ELITE 3-9x40
The stock is soon to be bedded and painted OD Green & Black Web.
Just like lil-hammer's Rem 7-08....
I like that color and lack of reflections off it. May have the barreled action done later

Spikes lower/upper, Spike's NiB coated BCG/FCG, with a WOA 18" SPR barrel and TRX 13" handguard.
Bushnell 3200 ELITE 3-9x40 & Streamlight TLR-2 Light/Laser
