Does anybody know of any range that will rent out a Barrett .50 cal. rifle in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area?

If you find a place that does, please bring along assorted types of fruits and veggies to use as targets...and videotape it for us.

Doubt it. Most metro ranges won't even allow people that own them to shoot there. Talk about stupid.

One loud weapon!

Garland will let you shot 50bmg but they won't let you use FMJ. What ammo did ya'll use when you shot there? The ball ammo is all I can afford to shoot.

I don't mind not shooting fmj. just need a rifle to shoot. i heard the shock wave is pretty fierce but the recoil isn't much worse than a 12 gauge.

Can't speak for the Barrett semi, but I have a Bohica and I would say recoil is even less than a 12ga. They are a lot more pleasant to shoot than you would think and it makes it even easier to burn through some of that expensive ammo.

Yeah... Recoil is not as bad as you would think. As for the round we shot in Garland, I'm really not sure what he used. Seems like we were sorting the API rounds out though... Sorry man... It's been a while. I know the rangemaster asked for a round so he could show the kids who come in there... They used to keep it up by the register.

Garland Range does allow shooting the 50BMG, I haven't checked with any other ranges around town. They do have the stipulation of no FMJ ammo on the rifle range, that goes for all calibers, not just the 50. I usually use AMAX bullets in my reloads when shooting there. I know others that drill a hollow point in the ball FMJ rounds and that is allowed since it is then a hollow point. Another thing is Garland is a paper punching range only, no reactive targets allowed.

The 50 is a blast to shoot literally. I have knocked things like glasses, jackets, and drinks off the next bench over from me with the blast.

I have an Anzio 50 and a friend has the Armorlite. The Armorlite weighs about 10lbs more than the Anzio and has a larger break on it so recoil is really light (I have a 243 that felt recoil is much worse than his 50). My rifle on the other hand is about like shooting my 12GA 870 with 3.5 inch turkey loads. I like mine though, at 26lbs you can shoot it off hand if you want and I do not need it on wheels to carry around.

As far as rentals I do not know of any range that rents a BMG

Bummer. There was a guy at the Fort Worth gun show that said there was someone around Weatherford but didn't know a name. My son got very excited when he heard that.

Would it be legal for an individual to rent his BMG at his private range?
