Just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them.

Back in Sept out in Kent County, we made a stand with the Fox Pro about 10:00 am. We put the FP across a fence in a field expecting to call something in from across the field. My friend had his .223 and I had my 12 with 00 buck. Not more than 15 seconds after the FP was on, I heard something to my back right. I thought it was a rabbit. It was a coyote about 8 yards from me and closing. I couldn't believe it. By the time I realized what it was he was retreating into the mesquites and I shot low twice. Man that was exciting. My buddy never even saw it and asked what I was shooting at!

Our next stand the guy hung out about 400 yards.

I called one in that ran on top of me full blast. I was on the edge of a shelter belt and the call was down the tree line to my right. That dog ran right in front of me(5-10 ft.) headed to the call. The farmer I worked for at the time was with me and he almost had to change his underware. He wouldn't call with me anymore. I didn't even have a chance to shoot until that dog doubled back. He doubled back b/c of the barrage of gun fire coming from my boss. All I could do is turn my rifle sideways and let one fly. Educated another dog that day. Somehow I was pretty good at educating them...

I have had several coyotes come in like that. My first bobcat, which now stands proud in my living room, I shot at 1 yard. I called him up in the middle of the day in a thicket and never saw him until I saw some fury, dark spots moving in the cedar tree tree that I was straddling! I had to move my foot out the way and took aim from my lap. I rolled him with the .270 right before he either pounced on my foot or turn inside out and left the county. As it turned out, the .270 turned him inside out, but the taxidermist did a wonderful job. I think I was 15 years old and needless to say, I was hooked on varmint hunting for life.

No, it most definitely is not. That is exactly what happened. I'll let you no if I make any, "make believe noise", on this forum!

has happened more than i like it to. one was when me and my buddy were sitting on the side of a tank dam and had the caller and decoy in the dry tank. we were sitting about 10 yrds apart and a dog came from behind us and ran right between us. have also had greys run under the truck, but the worst was when we were callin one night and we had been working in this cat for about 30 min when we heard something jump into the bed of the truck swung the light around and a coon had decided to join us. you talk about your heart stopping. after that we alwayed remember to close the tailgate before getting in the rack.

I think I have already posted this before, but it is worth posting again.

Earlier this year, a few buddies and I were calling at night and noticed some eyes in the distance while we were driving to our next stand. A few lip squeaks and we had a bobcat closing the distance fast and we could not get out of the truck for fear of spooking him. When he got within 15 yds., a shot was fired which missed him and he took off, scared by the shot, straight for the truck. He hit it at full speed and was laying there just under my door and appeared to be dead. We drug him out from the truck and put a round in him for assurance. Talk about a heart-attack. He slammed into my truck just behind my door the same time I almost went through the hood trying to get out of the way since I had the window down holding the light. As he was leaped a few times to clear cactus and brush, he got plenty high enough to come through the truck window. It just don't get anymore exiting than that.
I do have a dent in my truck and three buddies to prove it! One of the guys refused to get out of truck the rest of the night.

I was deer hunting in a 6' tall tripod just outside Zapata on turkey day 2000. I was looking down a sendero when I saw a yote about 500 yards away. I blew the Olt 2 in 1 mouth call that I just happened to have for a few seconds and the yote made a mad b-line towards me. He stopped about 30 paces from me and I put a .280 140 gr ballistic tip right between his upper and lower canine teeth. There was no visible entrance wound and the exit was never found. I guessed the bullet stayed in his body cavity. How I don't know.

If you hit him, that yote should have dropped in its tracks. I have never had one go more than 10 feet and that was from the impact of the bullet. I hit one like that in the mouth at 50 yards and never even flinch. A balistic tips will destroy them which is what I use.

Oh he dropped like a sack of sh*t. He never quivered, kicked, or squirmed. It was instantaneous death. Only I had no apparent entrance (besides a few broken teeth) or exit wound. The bullet somehow stayed inside him. When I picked him up, he felt like a garbage bag full of water. Sorry to mislead ya.

Understood. I read the 'was never found' wrong. The one I shot apparantly did the same thing. His jaw was shattered and there was no exit wound. I wish deer went down that easy!
