I have always contemplated getting some waist highs, but I know as soon as I do everything will flood and I will never use them. So why not be on the safe side and go with chest highs?! I guess unless you know for an absolute fact the water you're in will always be less than knee deep. I say knee deep that way if you fall you shouldn't have too much water rushing in.

I knew you would say that... are your chest highs breathable? If not that might make things more comfortable. I don't think I've ever seen anybody with waist highs... kind of why I have never gotten them.

I had a pair of boot foot waist high "wader jeans" from Cabela's, wore them 3 or 4 times and gave them away. The jacket's I have are all the wader version, and my little fat "love" handles would freeze. I had a pair of neoprene chest waders and when I tried my first pair of breathables, I was hooked and never looked back.

I second the breathable chest waders, just from experience with the waist high.

What size boot are you looking at?

Love my waist highs. After 5 seasons I finally have some chest waders because of 2 spots I'll be hunting this year is over the waist level. I mostly hunt wetlands that you can wear hip boots, but your arse gets wet then. So for flexibility (fat man bending over) the waist highs are perfect if you already have some chest waders and know you aren't oging in over thigh deep.

If you can't lick your own, you can't sit on the dog stand!

I have some thigh highs that would have worked this past weekend, but unless you know the conditions in advance I just use my chest.

the waist high just might be the ticket for most areas

Yea I know what you mean, when in doubt I will where my chest waders but alot of places I know don't get more than knee deep, I had some hip boots but just retired them and decided to get waist highs to keep my butt dry if I am going to be laying or sitting on the ground

Yup, good point. I got chest high breathable, and hip boots. But I would like to have some waist high. I sweated my arse off early teal with breathable, I ended up pulling them down to my waist many times.

........I have LaCrosse and Mack's and like them both. 90% of my huntin is done in waist highs and I wouldn't give um up for nuthin.

Of the two, I prefer the Mack's brand.
